A Deal with Chabashira

The two of them headed to the theater together, feeling shy.

They chose a theater showing a mythological play and went inside; the theater here was incredibly vast.

A familiar figure was sitting in the front row.

It was the homeroom teacher of Class D, Sae Chabashira.

Yi Chen intended to leave, but Ichinose also wanted to see this performance.

As luck would have it, Ichinose had a decent relationship with Sae Chabashira.

Ichinose led Yi Chen to sit down next to Sae Chabashira.

Ichinose looked at Sae Chabashira with a smile:

"Sae Chabashira, what a coincidence. To think we'd meet here."

Sae Chabashira looked at the two of them.

Her gaze lingered on Angela Yi Chen, who was behind Ichinose.

Sae Chabashira said coldly:

"Hello, Ichinose. And student Angela Yi Chen."

Yi Chen said awkwardly:

"Hello, Sae Chabashira."

Just then, the lights dimmed, and the performance was about to begin.

Smoke slowly rose on the stage, and the actors appeared wearing gorgeous, ancient costumes.

The three of them sat quietly in their seats to watch the performance.

The story was roughly about freedom.

Speaking of freedom, Yi Chen's thoughts wandered:

I used to live alone.

Does that count as freedom?

It does, in the eyes of others.

But only Yi Chen himself knew that living alone requires a great many things.

If one has enough material wealth, one can be physically free.

But psychologically, one will only ever be empty.

Just like this Guxina story, freedom is very difficult.

While watching the play, Yi Chen felt as though Sae Chabashira was casting glances his way from time to time.

It was as if she wanted to devour him.

Ichinose, on the other hand, was watching with great interest; she looked at Yi Chen tenderly and asked if it was good.

Soon, the play reached its conclusion.

The free spirit who ignored the warnings died.

Seeing that the play had ended, Ichinose looked at Sae Chabashira:

"Sae Chabashira, the play is over, would you like to walk with us?"

Sae Chabashira said coldly:

"No need, Ichinose."

Sae Chabashira checked her watch and realized it was getting late.

"Do you two have anything else to do?"

Ichinose smiled:

Sae Chabashira looked at Ichinose:

"Since Ichinose has nothing to do, I have something to discuss with Angela Yi Chen."

Upon hearing this, Ichinose looked at Yi Chen.

Yi Chen looked at the two of them awkwardly.

Ichinose said softly:

"Then see you tomorrow, Yi Chen, I'll head back first."

Ichinose waved goodbye to the two of them.

After Ichinose walked away.

Sae Chabashira silently lit a cigarette.

She took out a cigarette and asked Yi Chen if he wanted one.

Yi Chen didn't smoke, so he declined.

Chabashira remained expressionless:

"Don't be nervous, I'm just asking you a few things."

Hearing this, Yi Chen leaned back in his seat, feeling a bit tired from the day.

Seeing this, Chabashira didn't say anything.

Chabashira:

"Yi Chen? I'll just call you that."

"Do you want to promote to Class A?"

Chabashira revealed a rare smile upon hearing this:

Chabashira smoked, flicking the ash away.

"Help Class D promote to Class A, how about that?"

Yi Chen said flatly:

"Chabashira-sensei, why do you think I can help Class D promote to Class A?"

Chabashira took another drag of her cigarette:

"Based on the abilities you've displayed so far, I think that for you, you've wanted to promote to Class A from the very beginning."

"However, this idea became hesitant after you met Ichinose, didn't it?"

Yi Chen listened in silence.

Chabashira:

"You actually know that with Ichinose's ability, it will be difficult for her to maintain Class B in the coming semesters, right?"

"Angela Yi Chen."

Chabashira used her hand to crush the burning cigarette butt.

She looked at Yi Chen with a cold sneer:

"I believe in your ability, so please believe in mine, won't you?"

"Angela Yi Chen, do you think we will succeed?"

Yi Chen said indifferently:

"Is that all? Fine, I do have intentions of rising to Class A."

"However, if it looks like Class B will still be demoted, I will likely take some action."

"Chabashira-sensei."

Chabashira smiled gloomily:

"Angela Yi Chen."

"Please let me see you go all out."

"As for Class B, I will keep an eye on them for you."

Upon hearing this, Yi Chen stood up and slowly left the theater.

Inside the theater, Chabashira lit another cigarette and began to puff away.

Chabashira sighed:
