Tang Yu used his emotional abilities, strategy, and combat skills to help Class D through the island Special Exam while drawing the attention of powerful students and school officials. During summer training, he strengthened his ties with Horikita Suzune and Karuizawa Kei, disrupted Nagumo’s faction plans, and learned that Horikita Manabu had prepared a high-risk individual assessment.

• Tang Yu placed among the school's top students but was assigned to Class D, raised his Intelligence, and made a wager with Horikita Suzune over the Monthly Exam.
• Tang Yu scored 100 in every subject, won his wager with Horikita, and began daily study sessions with her as Ayanokoji Kiyotaka took an interest in his abilities.
• Tang Yu helped lead Class D through the island survival exam, worked with Honami Ichinose, and rescued an injured Horikita during a storm.
• Tang Yu uncovered Ryuen Kakeru's ambushes and drug-enhanced condition, helped Class D complete the warehouse mission, and exposed Student Council Vice President Kiriyama Ikiteru's alleged involvement in the banned drugs.
• Tang Yu defeated Ryuen in a competition, after which the school disqualified Class C and awarded Class D the runner-up reward.
• Tang Yu repeatedly beat Horikita by one point on exams until she broke down, then learned she wanted to establish her own worth apart from Horikita Manabu and promised to challenge her without restraint.
• Tang Yu fought Ryuen and his classmates in Tokyo, met Horikita at a bookstore, and arrived at Horikita Manabu's summer training class, where he impressed Manabu with his strategic reasoning.
• Tang Yu protected Karuizawa Kei from Ryuen's agents and learned of Ryuen's planned attack on Class D, then helped Horikita Suzune navigate Nagumo's faction simulation and strengthened the Military Faction before learning that Manabu had set an individual Final Assessment.

Tang Yu protected Karuizawa from Ryuen’s blackmail and Tsukishiro’s mental attacks, while building alliances with Ayanokoji and Class D. After destroying Tsukishiro’s core and uncovering Project Elysium, Tang Yu and Karuizawa fled Tokyo Bay with White Room pursuers closing in.

• Tang Yu uncovered Ryuen’s threats against Karuizawa, rescued her from his schemes, and destroyed the compromising photos Ryuen had used to control her.
• Tang Yu helped Class D prepare for and win the Debate Tournament, countering Tsukishiro’s mental interference and supporting Karuizawa as she spoke about her past.
• Ayanokoji revealed Tsukishiro’s White Room ties and warned that he was targeting Tang Yu and Karuizawa, while Ryuen joined Tang Yu against Tsukishiro’s influence.
• Tang Yu and Ayanokoji exposed Tsukishiro during a School Board hearing, but Tsukishiro remained a threat and targeted Karuizawa with a neural interferer.
• Tang Yu rescued Karuizawa from the attackers and escaped with her to Ayanokoji’s safe house, where they learned the location of Tsukishiro’s Seventh Hive.
• Tang Yu infiltrated the Hive and found Tsukishiro’s human-brain and quantum-computer core, then connected his consciousness to its network as Karuizawa joined the battle.
• Tang Yu and Karuizawa destroyed the core and uncovered Project Elysium, while Ayanokoji rescued them and warned Tang Yu that a tracking program had been implanted in him.
• Tang Yu and Karuizawa left Tokyo Bay for a safe house, avoiding electronics for 72 hours as the System warned that White Room pursuers could detect Tang Yu within 48–72 hours.
