As everyone knew, aside from minerals, there were very few truly straight lines in nature. At most, living things had lines that were "relatively straight"; straight lines in the geometric sense were rare.

It was especially impossible for anything to have a structure with several edges like this.

It had a distinct presence, lying askew among the burning debris, whole and regular, as though the fire had never happened and had nothing to do with it.

The feeling of being unable to stand steadily grew stronger. He felt as if he were being tossed up and down, while his eyes told him his feet were firmly stuck to the ground. Only his sensory feedback was oscillating, contradicting itself.

Dizziness and nausea, much like vertigo caused by inner-ear crystals—as if something were violently shaking his semicircular canals, making the endolymph inside surge back and forth. The high-frequency, intense stimulation created the illusion of movement.

It was obvious that this represented a signal beyond what an ordinary person could endure. It manifested as oscillations in his sense of position and movement, and Kraft couldn't interpret it.

He didn't even dare move his body carelessly. The false sensation would prompt an entirely wrong reaction and send him sprawling.

Without the shell to enclose and isolate it, the thing's stability seemed disrupted, reverting to a more primitive, wild state. It was freely displaying its original nature, without restraint or concealment.

After several rounds of oscillation, he adapted to its effects and figured out what the sensation really was: short-distance falling and reverse movement, occurring as a concept in a non-three-dimensional space, transmitted through his Spiritual Senses and registered by his position and motion receptors.

At that moment, he had to admit that the human body's basic setup wasn't quite enough for this bizarre world.
