From the statue, they headed left. The road remained broad enough for four or five carriages to travel side by side.
A sign stood by the roadside, bearing the words "Lakeside Path."
Huo Yuhao looked to the right. Through the lush trees lining the road, he could vaguely make out a broad expanse of water.
He guessed that it was the legendary Sea God Lake.
Huo Yuhao narrowed his eyes and looked toward the center of the lake, vaguely spotting a small island amid the vast waters.
A trace of wariness flashed through his eyes.
Others might not know, but as someone who knew the spoilers, Huo Yuhao was well aware that somewhere on that island, the Golden Tree formed from Tang Buddha's mother was hidden.
Through that thing, Tang Buddha could possibly interfere directly with the lower realm.
However, for now, he probably did not need to worry about that.
His strength was still far too low, not yet enough to warrant Tang Buddha taking action personally.
As for possession, if Tang Buddha had truly discovered it, then with his current strength, he would have no way to stop him anyway.
If Tang Buddha had not discovered it, then with the System and his cheat, Huo Yuhao believed that his cultivation speed would likely give Tang Buddha a huge surprise!
As he thought, the two walked along the path for nearly a quarter of an hour before a vast rectangular plaza came into Huo Yuhao's view.
This was Shrek Square.
Behind it stood rows of towering teaching buildings. Their colors varied, mainly white, yellow, purple, and black.
Looking north beyond Shrek Square, there seemed to be another cluster of gray teaching buildings in the distance.
Once they arrived, Tang Ya continued introducing the place to Huo Yuhao. "The colors of the teaching buildings represent different grades, distinguished according to the colors of Spirit Rings. White is for the freshman teaching building, like the lowest-level ten-year Spirit Ring. Yellow is for the Outer Academy's Second Grade and Third Grade teaching buildings, purple is for the Fourth and Fifth Grade buildings, and black is for the Sixth Grade buildings."
"Those gray teaching buildings in the distance belong to the Soul Tool Department. Judging by the area, the Soul Tool Department occupies roughly one-third of the main Teaching Area, while the Martial Soul Department occupies two-thirds."
"Besides the teaching buildings at the front, there are many specialized teaching facilities behind them, such as the Soul Arena, Assessment Area, Dormitory Area, teachers' offices, and so on."
Listening to Tang Ya's introduction, Huo Yuhao nodded slowly.
The white freshman teaching building stood at the southernmost end and was also closest to the Lakeside Path. The two passed along the southern side of Shrek Square and entered the building.
Since it was currently the period for recruiting new students, the freshman teaching building was especially lively. Some freshmen who had already passed the Assessment were registering here.
Huo Yuhao was about to go register when his attention was suddenly caught by a notice board nearby.
The notice read: Freshman Class One homeroom teacher, Zhou Yi. Freshman Class Two homeroom teacher...
Tang Ya walked over and saw the contents as well, immediately crying out in alarm.
"Ah? Why is it that freak old hag Zhou Yi? Wasn't she teaching Third Grade? How did she get assigned to teach freshmen?"
But when she saw the words "Freshman Class One homeroom teacher," Tang Ya let out a relieved breath. "Thank goodness, thank goodness. She's Freshman Class One's homeroom teacher. Today is already the final day of registration, so Freshman Class One should have been full long ago. You won't run into that old hag."
Huo Yuhao looked at the name on the notice, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Zhou Yi was considered a pretty outrageous character in Soul Land 2.
If she had not been relying on her husband being an Eighth Level Soul Tool Master, with her unreasonable and arbitrary teaching style, she would have been kicked out of the academy long ago.
Expelling twelve-year-old students from the academy just because they slacked off a little, while constantly claiming they were "unsuited to becoming strong"—what utter bullshit!
What was a strong person?
If a measly Soul Emperor like her counted as strong, then more than half the students she expelled could probably have achieved more than she ever did!
Huo Yuhao remembered clearly that on Huo Gua's very first day in class in the original novel, that woman made the freshmen run a hundred laps under the pretext that "those who dare not stir up trouble are mediocrities."
Even more outrageous, Huo Gua and Wang Dong, who had gotten into a fight, also had to run a hundred laps!
There was no reasoning with her at all! How was that establishing authority over freshmen? She was fucking mentally deranged!
It was as though watching those teenagers suffer and howl in pain gave her some kind of thrill from abusing children, making her climax on the spot.
As for that claim that "nearly one-quarter of the students she taught entered the Inner Academy," that was even more ridiculous!
Was she taking advantage of people not understanding arithmetic?
How many students advanced to Third Grade in total?
And how many of those students had she randomly expelled?
Using the handful of students left over as the basis for calculating the advancement rate—damn, she really was a genius!
Thinking of this, Huo Yuhao focused his gaze on the teacher handling registration over there.
His martial soul was the Spirit Eye, and his eyesight was far stronger than that of Soul Masters at the same level.
Though he was some distance away, Huo Yuhao could still clearly see the words "Class Nine" written in the notebook before the teacher.
Huo Yuhao thought to himself, Sure enough, classes are assigned according to registration order. That means I really can avoid that deranged old woman.
He glanced back at the notice board, where it read: Freshman Class Nine homeroom teacher, Mu Jin.
Mu Jin?
Huo Yuhao's gaze shifted slightly.
He did remember that name. She was the one who made a bet with Old Woman Zhou in the original novel and later lost a Spirit Bone.
Her personality seemed decent enough. She did not seem to have done anything outrageous in the original novel, so she would do.
Huo Yuhao knew even less about the homeroom teachers of the other classes, so to be safe, it was better to choose someone familiar.
With that in mind, Huo Yuhao walked toward the registration desk.
After registering successfully, the teacher in charge handed Huo Yuhao a set of dormitory keys, two uniforms, and a white freshman badge.
However, Huo Yuhao did not take them immediately. Instead, he asked with a smile, "Teacher, if I don't stay in the dormitory, can I rent a place in Shrek City and live there myself?"
The teacher looked up at him in surprise, then nodded slightly. "You can, but rent in Shrek City is very expensive. Are you sure you want to live outside?"
Huo Yuhao nodded decisively.
What a joke. With the Drunken Sword Immortal System, he would definitely be drinking to his heart's content in the future. But if he remembered correctly, Shrek Academy prohibited alcohol.
If he drank in the dormitory, someone might catch him by accident and cause a whole pile of trouble.
Rather than sneaking outside to drink every few days, he might as well rent a place outside directly. Then he could cook some hotpot, have a few drinks, tsk tsk.
As the saying went, don't be a simp—hotpot with wine, the more you drink, the more you have. Now that was what life was supposed to be!
