Background / History
The Sun Moon Empire is a technologically advanced western power whose territory was initially confined west of the Mingdou Mountain Range. Its rulers regarded its superior Soul Tool technology as an unrealized advantage while the Star Luo, Heavenly Soul, and Dou Ling Empires remained powerful rivals. 272 351
Ming Capital suffered a catastrophic disaster when an underground arsenal detonated. Sixteen Level 9 Fixed Soul Guidance Shells and more than ten thousand lower-level shells exploded in a chain reaction, destroying the ancient capital and inflicting enormous civilian losses. The destruction also erased strategic stores of rare metals, completed Soul Guidance Devices, and supplies intended to equip a super-army. 367 369
After succeeding to the throne, Xu Tianran rebuilt Ming Capital, settled disaster victims, and publicly maintained restraint while preparing for war. The government used public grief and anger over the catastrophe to accelerate military recruitment, Soul Tool development, and an arms race against the other empires. 374 415
Under Xu Tianran and Ju Zi, the empire launched campaigns supported by the Holy Spirit Cult. Its forces captured much of the Heavenly Soul Empire and later joined the Holy Spirit Cult in seizing the Mingdou Mountain Range and western Star Luo territory. 567 571 593 The empire subsequently crushed the remaining combined resistance of the Dou Ling and Heavenly Soul Empires with overwhelming Soul Tool firepower. 684
The campaign against Shrek Academy became a severe strategic setback: the Sun Moon Empire lost more than ninety percent of its deployed troops and five Level 9 Soul Engineer Regiment commanders. 740 Soon afterward, Ju Zi ordered Long Zhanye's elimination as a suspected traitor and redistributed command of his regiments; Xu Tianran then died suddenly, plunging Ming Capital's court into a succession crisis. 746 748
Soul Guidance Technology
Urban infrastructure
Ming Capital is characterized by metal-and-crystal structures, wide roads surfaced in dark gray material, Soul Guidance vehicles, and aerial Soul Guidance Devices. Its prosperity and precision leave outsiders with a strong sense of alienation. 76
- Soul Guidance neon can illuminate Ming Capital's night sky as brightly as day. 76
- More than twenty million people live in Ming Capital, making it the empire's political and population center. 594
- The capital's strategic industry once included thousands of tons of rare metals, vast stores of finished Soul Guidance Devices, and military supplies on a national scale. 369
Surveillance and border control
The empire maintains strict technological security, especially along its eastern frontier.
- Rising Sun City — Entrants and departing travelers undergo strict inspections; large caravans may wait days for searches to conclude. 428
- Detection network — High-altitude and ground-to-air Soul Guidance Detectors monitor airspace, supplemented by searchlights and reconnaissance devices. 429 430
- Soul Cannon response — Border forces can answer intrusions with concentrated high-altitude bombardment, ground-to-air detection, and aerial Soul Engineer Regiment deployments. 430
- Outsider restrictions — Citizens and Soul Masters are notably wary of foreigners, particularly where sensitive Soul Guidance technology is concerned. 76
Military
The empire's battlefield strength rests on compact, mobile Soul Engineer Regiments rather than conventional massed cavalry. Even smaller regiments can wield enough Soul Tool firepower to determine regional campaigns. 433
Hand of Protecting the Nation
| Regiment | Classification and role | Documented details |
|---|---|---|
| Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Regiment | The “Sword of the Empire” and strongest military force | Roughly 300 members; applicants require at least rank 50 cultivation. It answers only to the emperor, and its commanders and deputy commanders are Level 9 Soul Engineers. 433 |
| Imperial Dragon Soul Engineer Regiment | Beast-king-class regiment | Named for the Purple Imperial Extinguishing Heaven Dragon. It was regarded as second only to the Royal Regiment, and later came under Long Zhanye's control after Xu Tianyuan's death. 433 592 |
| Terrorclaw Soul Engineer Regiment | Beast-king-class regiment | One of the four elite regiments directly subordinate to the empire. 433 |
| Fire Phoenix Soul Engineer Regiment | Beast-king-class regiment | Its commander had not reached Level 9, but its deputy commander possessed Level 9 strength. 433 |
| Evil Monarch Soul Master Regiment | Beast-king-class regiment | Named after the Evil Eye Tyrant Lord; it guarded a vital eastern frontier passage and later served under Long Zhanye. 433 532 |
- The Royal Regiment and the palace Worship Hall are regarded as the imperial family's two principal pillars. 433
- The empire also fields regular Soul Engineer Regiments of roughly 500 members, stationed at important border strongholds, alongside local regiments maintained by military districts, nobles, and meritorious families. 433
- The military expanded from ten to fifteen Soul Engineer Regiments after war began. 570
- The five elite regiments can form Soul Tool air forces capable of maneuvering across large armies. 433
- At the height of his authority, Long Zhanye commanded both the Evil Monarch and Imperial Dragon Regiments, totaling more than 7,000 Soul Engineers. 592
Government and Leadership
- Xu Tianran — Crown prince who became emperor, rebuilt Ming Capital after the Day of Destruction, launched expansionist wars, and sought to unify the continent. 415 595
- Ju Zi — Xu Tianran's consort and military strategist. Her command ability helped exploit the advantages of the imperial army; following Xu Tianran's death, she secured support across the royal family and assumed control as Empress. 595 747
- Kong Deming — Silver Moon Douluo, Offering Hall Master, and the empire's foremost Soul Engineer. He commands exceptional influence over the Royal Soul Engineer Regiment and the empire's Level 9 Soul Tool production. 503 748
- Mingde Hall — A major center of Soul Tool research and talent cultivation. Its destruction during the Ming Capital disaster severely damaged the empire's technological base and Jing Hongchen's standing. 179 369 569
Foreign Relations and Conflicts
- Heavenly Soul Empire — A principal rival whose capital and much of its territory fell to Sun Moon campaigns; the empire later claimed to have unified it. 567 595
- Star Luo Empire — A major military rival. Sun Moon forces and Holy Spirit Cult allies seized the Mingdou Mountain Range and western Star Luo territory, while later events led to the collapse of Star Luo resistance. 593 709
- Dou Ling Empire — A neighboring state eventually overwhelmed alongside remnants of the Heavenly Soul Empire. 684
- Holy Spirit Cult — A wartime ally that provided Evil Soul Masters for frontal assaults, infiltration, and sabotage. Their relationship deteriorated after Zhongli Wu established the West Star Luo Empire, creating an unavoidable conflict of interests. 503 571 593
- Shrek Academy and Tang Sect — Tournament rivals expelled from the empire after accusations of cheating; later became major wartime opponents. 357 740
- Body Sect — Publicly believed to have been destroyed by the Evil Monarch Soul Master Regiment, though Long Zhanye used the regiment's banners and uniforms to conceal the sect's survival from the imperial court. 567 568 569
Symbols and Ceremonies

- The seven-layer altar rises one hundred zhang and is surrounded by Soul Tool positions, reconnaissance devices, defensive formations, and more than 100,000 soldiers during major ceremonies. 594
