The experiment was over. Most of the onlooking banshees slowly dispersed and returned to their own work.
The results of this experiment were rather unbelievable. No one had expected the Mechanical Cathedral's ritual to actually interact with the Machine Soul. Still, they had gained something at least—pollution could finally be burned.
Though whether that method was good or bad remained unclear.
The banshees spent ages frantically discussing it through Mind Link. The messages flew by so fast that Theus could barely read them anymore. He only knew that most of the banshees supported his idea, while only a small number had greater concerns.
After all, thanks to their Symbiotic Pact with him, the banshees had no fear of pollution whatsoever. Even if the steam engine really went wrong, it would not pose much of a threat to them. The banshees guarding the steam engine were not particularly worried about it.
The banshees who opposed it mainly suspected that industrial products made by this "evil god steam engine" might have problems—for example, steel that came with pollution of its own. Theus had no good way to prevent that either. He could only begin with small-scale trials.
Moth Chasing Flame, on the other hand, was unanimous in its support. They were clearly more afraid of pollution, but their instinctive pursuit of knowledge made it impossible for them to refuse such a strange thing. They made only one suggestion: give the "evil god steam engine" a new name.
That name really was rather stupid. After a fierce argument, the name Gaia had come up with, [Clamorer], won the support of the majority. It was an exceptionally fitting description. Whenever it operated, it constantly whispered something amid the sounds of boilers and pistons, creating an eerie sense of clamor.
Theus had deliberately listened beside
