Zoe looked in confusion at Theus, who had suddenly lowered his head. A moment later, Theus raised it again, his face grave.
"So serious? Tell me the details, quickly."
"Before—um, a long time ago—I suddenly became linked to someone one day, and I could communicate with them!"
"Was it like the Banshees' Mind Link?"
"Yes, yes! Exactly like that, but there didn't seem to be any distance limit!"
"What a remarkable ability. And then?"
"Then... then I became linked to several strangers. They..." Zoe gritted her teeth. "Sorry, I can't reveal their names. They've helped me a great deal and have never harmed Castel. I hope you'll allow me to keep their information private!"
Theus glanced at Zoe in surprise. She was quite loyal to her friends.
"That's fine. Go on."
"Ah, y-you agree? Then I'll continue..."
Zoe gave a rough account of what they had discussed before. Naturally, Theus already knew the details. She spoke very earnestly and did not conceal anything.
As Theus listened to her, he suddenly felt somewhat moved. To him, this was naturally a lighthearted and amusing farce, but it was different for Zoe.
She had never heard of such an inexplicable link. The people within it were all powerful, and they were willing to share information...
If it had been Theus instead—if, as an ordinary person, he had suddenly joined a chat group of Transcendents—would he have been willing to report such an unexpected boon to his lord?
At that thought, Theus's gaze softened somewhat. Zoe had always seemed timid and weak, yet the choice she had made was unexpectedly bold.
Who knew how much courage it had taken her.
Theus patiently listened to Zoe's account without interrupting her.
"In short, I think that lady is a Transcendent, but the two gentlemen probably aren't."
