Kyle had not thought much of it when he first heard that the Banshees had gathered in the church. Those Transcendent beings were far too capable of stirring things up—whatever they got up to was perfectly normal.

Until he heard that the Banshees were praying.

Kyle immediately reported the news to his superiors. Then, trembling, he picked up his gun and walked out of the office with a look of grim resolve.

What kind of joke was this? Even that group of restless Banshees had started praying. How desperate did things have to be for that to happen?!

By the time Kyle finally reached the main hall and saw the Banshees in heavy armor, standing in neat ranks with weapons in hand, his vision went black.
