"Nora! You're back! Lady Helena is looking for you!"
A priest of the Silent Temple, clad in plate armor, waved at a self-propelled artillery vehicle. The people around them seemed entirely unsurprised.
The artillery piece had clearly just come off the battlefield, its armor plates still bearing the scars of explosions.
The fighting on the front lines was no longer particularly intense. Aside from a few areas, the conflict had settled into low-intensity skirmishes.
Nora's sector was one of those exceptions.
With the appearance of armored weapons such as self-propelled artillery and Steam Tanks, the role of ordinary soldiers on the battlefield had gradually diminished. So long as neither side launched a large-scale offensive, the fighting had slowly turned into armored duels.
Steam Tanks had heavy armor capable of withstanding Castel's heavy machine guns and grenades. Self-propelled artillery had much weaker armor, but the Empire's firearms were generally a whole tier behind.
Neither side's infantry could break through the other's defenses, making the war rather strange.
Galahad had often sighed about it lately. When he was young, he had heard older Knights speak of duels between Knights on the battlefield—until firearms appeared, and such things vanished.
Yet now, both sides had begun holding Knight duels again. Only, the horses had become Steam Tanks and self-propelled artillery.
The times changed so quickly. Before one knew it, everything had gone full circle.
Nora did not have so many sentimental thoughts. She simply felt that having a body again was wonderful.
Though it was not a body of flesh and blood, and was not nearly as nimble, being able to charge into battle was still nice.
And artillery was far more useful than a Flail, wasn't it?
Nora had previously carved Silent Temple scripture onto the head of her Flail, allowing her to
