Rebecca sorted through the letters in her hands, but her thoughts had already wandered far beyond work.

"Once I'm off, I'll head over to Bettis's place for some French fries. Her family's fried fish shop has the best food in Blood Port, and it's close to the post office too..."

At the thought, she could not help swallowing. The work in her hands suddenly became even more tedious.

"Ugh, working at the post office is just too boring."

Rebecca had originally worked at Castel's testing grounds.

That job paid more and always came with interesting things happening, but her mother had insisted that she switch jobs.

"The testing grounds are far too dangerous. Who knows when some accident might happen? You're better off at the post office. The work here is stable."

Thinking of her mother's words, Rebecca could not help sighing again.

She should have stood her ground. The job was stable, sure, but it was genuinely boring. More importantly, her income had dropped by quite a lot. She even had to carefully budget whenever she wanted to buy fried fish.

Her coworkers spent all day chatting about all sorts of nonsense. They liked it here, but Rebecca preferred a more exciting life.

"If only life weren't so dull," she secretly wished.

"Ahem, ahem!" A colleague by the door suddenly gave an exaggerated cough. The lively office instantly fell silent. Rebecca looked up in confusion and found everyone sitting upright, each putting on the appearance of being busy.

Before she could figure out what had happened, a tall figure suddenly glided in.

Shimmering golden hair fell loosely over her shoulders, naturally curled at the ends. At a glance, it resembled mist in sunlight, looking wonderfully smooth.

Her eyes were golden as well. Her curved brows lifted slightly at Rebecca.
