Without hesitating over Little Gwen's screams, Theus controlled her and headed straight for Bettis's fried fish shop.
Little Gwen had always struck Theus as someone decisive. Whether it was leaving with Lina or fighting Jules, she had never hesitated in the slightest.
But he hadn't expected her to become so conflicted and weak when it came to a friend.
She and Lina had been in Blood Port for quite some time, yet she still hadn't made up her mind to meet Bettis. It seemed Bettis truly meant a great deal to her.
Theus knew how much the two cared for each other, which made it even harder for him to accept them missing each other like this. The war against the gods would begin soon, and no one knew what the future held. Perhaps they might not even have another chance to meet.
So... he would make the decision Little Gwen couldn't make for her.
Expressionlessly, Theus took some French fries, dipped them in fruit jam, and stuffed them into his mouth.
Little Gwen walked forward stiffly. She desperately resisted the control and continued pleading with Theus through their connection, saying she wasn't ready.
"You'll never be ready for something like this," Theus replied, then immediately cut off the connection.
By the time Little Gwen came to her senses, she was already standing at the entrance to the fried fish shop.
Luckily, Bettis was busy frying fish and hadn't looked up. Theus had also released his control at just the right moment. With Little Gwen's skills as a superhuman, she could definitely slip away without anyone noticing.
Little Gwen's legs instantly tensed as she prepared to flee.
But...
Should she run?
Little Gwen suddenly hesitated.
Weakness was not daring to face something, yet not daring to run from it either.
