This was a battle for all humanity. Even if they were heretics, even if they were mortal enemies, they were willing to put that aside for now.

Battle groups were the allied forces' combat units. Considering the differing methods of warfare among the various factions, their orders of battle were not uniform, so Theus had not forced them into mixed formations.
Under this battle-group structure, each group corresponded to roughly two thousand army personnel. Internally, they retained their original organizational structures, which varied from faction to faction.
This avoided disrupting the existing command systems while still making it possible to roughly gauge each force's size and combat capability, making command easier.
