Magic City Catacombs

Seeing the hostile look Li Zhen was giving him, Zhang Tao curled his lip and glanced at the bags they were carrying. This should be enough. Surely this much would do.

"All right, that's everything. I wonder if Nan Yunyue and the others have arrived yet!" Zhang Tao muttered a few more words, then headed for the agreed meeting place.

By the time they reached the shore near the entrance to the Magic City Catacombs, Nan Yunyue and a young man were already waiting there.

When she saw Zhang Tao and Li Zhen arrive, Nan Yunyue asked impatiently, "What took you so long?"

She'd rushed off to find an old friend and brought him along, only to spend a whole hour standing around in the sea breeze without seeing any sign of Zhang Tao and the others.

"Heh." Li Zhen didn't want to say anything. What did she mean, what took them so long? Couldn't she see? Hadn't he bought a mountain of Cat Food?

Zhang Tao skipped over the topic and said to the young man, "Sorry we're late. Nan Yunyue, aren't you going to introduce us? Who's this?"

Before Nan Yunyue could speak, the young man said, "Hello, Director Zhang. I've heard a lot about you. I'm Yu Feng, from Magic City!"

Zhang Tao was taken aback. Yu Feng—if he remembered correctly, this man would eventually become Magic Martial University's old principal. He looked to be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight, and his cultivation was impressive too: early fifth rank. He seemed polite and refined, but Magic Martial University would always be turning out troublemakers in the years to come.

"Yu Feng, why are you still calling him Director? He's just a shameless thug. Zhang Tao, hurry up and tell us what you came to the Magic City Catacombs for!" Nan Yunyue cut off their pleasantries impatiently. She was dying to know.

Zhang Tao was speechless. No wonder this woman would never find a man. Who in their right mind would like someone like her?

"Here's the thing. I'd like to learn more about the terrain in the Magic City Catacombs. Brother Yu, how much do you know?" Zhang Tao had no choice but to get straight to the point.

Yu Feng gave a wry smile. "Apart from the information provided by headquarters, I only know the terrain within a few hundred miles of Hope City. I haven't explored the rest. My strength is still too limited."

Zhang Tao nodded. In truth, he'd expected as much. Yu Feng's strength was what it was; they couldn't expect a mid-rank martial artist to go out mapping the place.

"Zhang Tao, that's all you wanted to ask?" Li Zhen asked incredulously. Did Zhang Tao not see that he was a rich second-generation martial artist? Who could know more than people from Zhenxing City?

Zhang Tao froze, then looked at Li Zhen. Only then did he remember that he was a second-generation martial artist from Zhenxing City. The ancestors of Zhenxing City were stationed at Sea-Suppressing Mountain, so they ought to know the terrain in the Magic City Catacombs pretty well.

"Look at me, forgetting that! Little Hanhan, do you have any information?" Zhang Tao asked quickly.

Li Zhen curled his lip and went to a phone booth to make a call. Soon, the call was returned. After listening, he hung up and said, "All set. We can go find Brother Jiang. He's in the Magic City Catacombs, and he knows the terrain around here!"

Hearing him mention Brother Jiang, Zhang Tao couldn't figure out who he meant, so he asked, "Hanhan, who's Brother Jiang?"

Li Zhen rolled his eyes. He hated being called Hanhan, but still explained, "He's a descendant of Old Ancestor Jiang, Jiang Yuanhua. He's training in the Magic City Catacombs right now, too."

Yu Feng suddenly spoke up. "Grandmaster Jiang? No wonder!"

Zhang Tao nodded. Now he remembered. The man had two grandsons, one of them Jiang Hao, the reincarnation of Mo Wenjian's spiritual consciousness, and the other a cowardly Little Fatty named Jiang Chao.

"Then let's go. Are you looking for a particular place on the map?" Li Zhen asked curiously.

Zhang Tao nodded but didn't explain further. Li Zhen didn't press him. There was an outsider here, and Li Zhen didn't know this Yu Feng well, so he kept quiet.

After entering the Magic City Catacombs and registering, they followed Yu Feng, who often spent time there and knew where Grandmaster Jiang was.

When Jiang Yuanhua saw Li Zhen, he smiled. "What brings you to the Magic City Catacombs? It's pretty dangerous around here lately, so be careful!"

"Brother Jiang, this is my friend. I'd like a map of the Magic City Catacombs." Li Zhen didn't beat around the bush. He spoke for Zhang Tao directly.

Jiang Yuanhua didn't know why Li Zhen wanted one, but he searched the room and handed him a map. "It's all here."

Afterward, he pulled Li Zhen aside and whispered, "That's Zhang Tao, right? I've heard of him. He's a real wild one. Be careful, okay?"

Li Zhen laughed helplessly, gave him a couple of perfunctory replies, then took the map and left.

In a corner of Hope City, Zhang Tao studied the map while Li Zhen leaned against the wall and dozed. He couldn't be bothered to ask anything; he'd just follow along.

Nan Yunyue was growing impatient. The two of them were cultivating far too quickly, and she wanted to keep up. Besides, she didn't believe Zhang Tao had come all this way for nothing.

Yu Feng felt awkward. He wasn't sure whether he should leave, so he glanced at Nan Yunyue. In the end, he decided he wasn't close to Zhang Tao and the others and said, "I'll head out first. I still have something to take care of!"

Nan Yunyue simply waved him away without even acknowledging him, leaving Yu Feng deeply wounded. Damn it, she was the one who'd called him here. Now she couldn't even be bothered with him?

Women. Hah!

And so, Yu Feng left. Zhang Tao kept studying the map. After a while, he finally folded it up. He'd already committed the whole thing to memory. "I'm going to the Boundary Land near Kuocang Mountain."

Li Zhen plopped down on the ground and stared at Zhang Tao in disbelief. "Are you crazy?"

The Boundary Land! It was a place countless ancestors wanted to explore. It was perilous, and deep in the Catacombs. Damn it, Zhang Tao was already looking for trouble!

Nan Yunyue looked baffled. She quickly took the map and studied it, then sucked in a sharp breath. Damn it, Zhang Tao was absolutely crazy. No—he had to know something, but this was still way too reckless.

No wonder everyone who followed this guy had died. They were going so far out—how could they not die?

Nan Yunyue was torn. It was so far away, and she was only fifth rank. If they ran into danger, she wouldn't be able to escape. But she didn't want to give up, either. Zhang Tao was cultivating so quickly that she was envious.

"Wait, why are you going over there? Let me warn you, according to the information we have, there are a lot of powerful beings over there. And that's not all—even the journey there, and the Forbidden Sea, are beyond us!" Li Zhen said at once.

Zhang Tao smiled. "I know. Nan Yunyue, you should stay behind. I'm not going there for some kind of reward this time!"

Nan Yunyue froze. He wasn't after a reward? Li Zhen blinked. If there was nothing to gain, why go over there? Without another word, he turned and left.
