Ning Chen entered the Immortal Palace seeking a way to save someone, then emerged into the Outer Heavens and pursued the Immortal Corpse Procession while searching for help for the Shaking Light King. Meanwhile, Prince Yan avenged Ning Chen by defeating the Taibai Manor Lord and defending Hua Zhongdie from Demon Buddha and Purple Heaven Palace, before entering the Demon Wheel Sea.

• Ning Chen and Jiang Li survived the Immortal Palace’s traps, discovered the Nether King’s history and the Immortal Slaying Sword, and rescued Ji Yaoguang from a blood pool.
• Ning Chen took the Immortal Peach Divine Tree, followed the Immortal Corpse Procession out of the collapsing Immortal Domain, and pursued the Ghost Maiden after she blasted him aside.
• Prince Yan killed Tuli Venerable, defeated the Taibai Manor Lord at Heavenly Moon Peak, and spared him after winning their duel.
• Ning Chen defeated Greedy Wolf, reached Tianfu Star, hunted a Vermilion Bird, and agreed to teach Qing Ming swordsmanship while seeking a way to save the Shaking Light King.
• Xiao Bieli tested Ning Chen after suspecting he had the Vermilion Bird Divine Treasure, then accepted his oath and gave him a Celestial Prime Token.
• Prince Yan joined the Venerable Lady to protect Hua Zhongdie from Demon Buddha and Purple Heaven Palace, then fought both Venerables and drove them back with his ultimate sword.
• Prince Yan entered the Demon Wheel Sea, Hua Zhongdie set out to find him, and the Venerable Lady returned to Changling intending to take half of Ning Chen’s body to the Northern Plains to prolong his life.

Ning Chen pursued the Immortal Palanquin from Tianfu Star into the Western Land as the Five Domains faced an invasion. The Shaking Light King halted the first clash, while Ning Chen entered the Demon Wheel Sea and faced a Demonic Tribulation.

• Ning Chen obtained Skywork Spring Water and the Rejuvenation Pill for the Shaking Light King, then escaped the Seven Kill Palace Master and the Tianfu Saintess.
• Ning Chen battled Yan Yuntian, raided Seven Kill Palace for treasures, and took Mo Kuang after agreeing to kill the Tianfu Saintess within ten days.
• Ning Chen defeated Xi Mujin and Tianfu Star Venerable, then pursued the Immortal Palanquin while the Shaking Light King stayed behind to face his enemies.
• Ning Chen rescued Mingyue from Bodhi, defeated him with the Four Symbols Consecration Sword, and continued west in search of the Immortal Palanquin.
• Chao Tianxi used the Star Soul Flowing Fire to destroy the Immortal Domain and break the Underworld King Barrier, prompting Tianfu to launch an invasion of the Five Domains.
• Xiao Bieli’s forces overwhelmed the Five Domains’ defenders until the Shaking Light King returned and fought Mu Changge to an even conclusion.
• The Shaking Light King prepared to enter the Supreme Realm as Ning Chen promised to attend his ceremony, then entered the Demon Wheel Sea and was struck by a Demonic Tribulation.

Ning Chen took command of Central Province’s defense against Tianfu, winning a major victory at Wanxing Pass before holding Jingfeng City against Chao Tianxi. After Venerable Lingtian fell, Ning Chen gathered allies for the coming fight and admitted he could face Tianfu Star Venerable only within Jingfeng City.

• Ning Chen left his demonic body to serve as the Five Domains’ Military Advisor, then took command of the alliance as Tianfu invaded Central Province.
• Ning Chen apologized to the Sword Forger Master, returned the Red Serpent Demonic Sword, and persuaded Central Province’s sects to give him a chance.
• Ning Chen met Xiao Bieli, rejected Tianfu’s demand for Central Province’s surrender, and returned to organize the defense.
• Ning Chen poisoned the Tianfu army at Wanxing Pass with demonized mandrake flowers, then used the Immortal Slaying Sword to devastate the pass and trap Tianfu Sovereigns in a forbidden zone.
• Chao Tianxi rescued Tianfu Sovereigns from the restriction zone and badly injured several of Ning Chen’s allies, prompting Ning Chen to fortify Jingfeng City with a Daoist-Buddhist Two Forms Array.
• Ning Chen and the Xiyao Master fought Chao Tianxi inside the Two Forms Array until Chao Tianxi withdrew, warning Ning Chen not to leave Jingfeng City.
• Luo Xingchen, Mu Qianshang, Sword Two, and Yi Xuanmiao killed Venerable Lingtian and reached Jingfeng City, where Ning Chen said he could fight Tianfu Star Venerable only within the city.

Ning Chen tried to save Tianfu by negotiating peace and moving its star, but the sacrifice of its Venerables and the threat of a second war left him isolated. After Qing Ling died protecting him, Ning Chen fell into demonhood and annihilated Luojia Mountain.

• Ning Chen and Mu Qianshang entered the Compassionate Sword Heavenly Pavilion, where Ning Chen trapped Supreme Heaven in his Body of Resentment and took the Grand Beginning Sword.
• Ning Chen, Mu Qianshang, and Sword Two defeated Chao Tianxi in the Two Forms Array, then Ning Chen negotiated a Tianfu withdrawal and peace talks.
• Purple Heaven Palace and the Demon Buddha ambushed Chao Tianxi, but Ning Chen rescued her, killed the Demon Buddha, and drove Purple Heaven Palace away with Supreme Heaven’s aid.
• Ning Chen inspected the Four Directions Divine Pagodas and worked with Tianfu’s leaders to move the Great Life Star, while the war between Tianfu and the allied sects resumed.
• Ning Chen and the Venerables used three Withered Stars and the Four Directions Divine Pagodas to move the Great Life Star, sacrificing twelve Venerables and leaving Ning Chen’s main body stranded behind.
• Ning Chen saved Bai Yunlian by erasing her memories, but when he and Yin'er traveled east, sect forces accused him of being the Red Serpent Demon and pursued them.
• Ning Chen fought through the pursuing forces while protecting Yin'er, and Qing Ling took a fatal strike meant for him before falling onto the Red Serpent Sword.
• After Yan told him to live and fell from the cliff, Ning Chen succumbed to demonhood, defeated the Venerables, and annihilated Luojia Mountain with the Demonic Phoenix Tribulation.
