To the southeast of the Three Imperial Cities, in an inconspicuous little courtyard, lamplight flickered. The dinner was not particularly lavish, yet it lasted nearly half an hour.
Outside the courtyard gate, Ning Chen had also waited quietly for half an hour without taking a single step beyond it.
Inside the courtyard, after the two had finished dinner, the woman rose and began clearing the table.
Xuan Mo looked at his wife before him and said softly, "A guest has arrived."
Hearing this, the woman looked surprised. Her gaze turned toward the courtyard entrance as she asked in confusion, "Someone is visiting so late?"
"It is the Thirteenth Prince. He may have business to discuss," Xuan Mo replied as he rose.
"The Thirteenth Prince? Then hurry and open the door. Do not keep His Highness waiting," the woman said anxiously.

Xuan Mo nodded and walked outside.
Outside the courtyard, Ning Chen saw Xuan Mo approaching behind the gate. He reined in his thoughts and stepped forward to knock.
After three knocks, the courtyard gate creaked open. As the two men met each other's eyes, neither showed much emotion.
"Your Highness, I have kept you waiting. Please come in," Xuan Mo said.
"As you should."
Ning Chen answered lightly, then walked into the little courtyard.
The night air in the courtyard was faintly cold. Seeing the Imperial Prince approach, the woman who had been clearing the table immediately bowed respectfully.
"Greetings, Thirteenth Prince."
"You are too courteous."
Ning Chen stepped forward and helped her up with a smile. "I have come to disturb you so late. I hope sister-in-law will not take offense."
"Your Highness is welcome here at any time. How could we take offense?" the woman said softly.
