Two prominent bumps rose from its head, looking as if horns were about to sprout. Once both horns had fully grown, it would break through to Intermediate Lord and become even more powerful.
Ordinary Grade 6 Battle Blades could only make sparks fly when they struck its body, as if they were merely tickling it.
Even the seven-grade spear wielded by the War God-level captain could only crack one or two of its scales with a full-strength strike. The Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon's defenses were clearly astonishing.
That wasn't all. The Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon was enormous, yet extremely agile, and its attacks were ferocious. Its terrifying maw was lined with long teeth; one bite would leave a person dead or seriously injured.
A sweep of its tail was like a strike from a steel whip. If it hit them, these Martial Artists would inevitably suffer severe injuries.
"Lao Wan, what did the family say? How much longer until they can get a War God-level powerhouse nearby to come save us?"
The captain fought desperately to hold back the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon as he asked urgently.
Not far away, a team member lay on the ground, one of his calves completely gone and his body drenched in blood. He was enduring the pain as he contacted the family with his communicator, his voice full of anxiety.
"The family says the nearest War God will need about twenty minutes to get here. We have to hold out for twenty minutes."
The team member lying on the ground shouted at the top of his lungs, as if trying to encourage himself and his teammates.
"Damn it, that Silver Moon Fierce Wolf was too cunning. It actually lured us right next to the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon's lair, using one beast to drive off another—and then it got away.
"If I ever run into it again, I'll tear it to pieces and avenge Lao Wan."
The captain thought viciously to himself.
They had originally believed that, with their team's strength, ambushing an Advanced War General Rank Silver Moon Fierce Wolf would be a piece of cake—a sure thing.
But at the crucial moment, the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf had somehow used a strange "secret technique" and suddenly burst forward at an astonishing speed, moving much faster than before.
Not only that, it had led them right beside the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon's lair, leaving the team trapped in a desperate situation as the dragon hunted them down. During the pursuit, one of their brothers had even had his calf bitten off.
With no other choice, they had fled desperately up to the twenty-fifth floor. They had thought they could escape danger for a while, but the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon was so relentless that, despite its size, it had followed them up the narrow stairwell without giving up. Now they were caught in a life-or-death crisis.
At that moment, besides the War God team, five other people were huddled in a corner of the rooftop some distance away.
They had witnessed the battle between War God-level fighters, but could only stand in the corner. They weren't qualified to join the fight.
They felt that, under the fierce clash between the monster and those powerful Martial Artists, the building could collapse at any moment.
The two teams were clearly not together.
Of the four fighting the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon, one was a Primary War God and three were Advanced War Generals. The team member lying on the ground was also an Advanced War General. This was undoubtedly a powerful "War God-level team."
The five people hiding in the corner were far weaker. The strongest among them was only an Intermediate War General, while the weakest was merely an Advanced Warrior. In this battle, they seemed so insignificant and helpless.
"Hey, brothers, could you come over and help bandage me?"
The Advanced War General lying on the ground had just finished his call when he suddenly asked the people in the corner for help.
The five exchanged glances, hesitation flashing in their eyes. But they quickly reached an agreement and hurried over.
They knew that if these powerful Martial Artists were defeated, they wouldn't escape disaster either. They were all in it together: if one prospered, they all prospered; if one suffered, they all suffered.
Besides, once the reinforcements these men had called for arrived, if they had refused to help, they would surely face merciless retaliation.
After all, this was the perilous wilderness, where no rules or laws applied. The strong ruled.
Just as the five ran over to help bandage the injured man, something unexpected happened.
"Ah~~~" A scream tore through the sky.
The Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon suddenly quickened its attacks. An Advanced War General Rank Martial Artist failed to dodge in time and was struck hard by the dragon's tail. He shot away like a cannonball, smashed through the glass, and flew out of the building.
Even as an Advanced War General, after taking such a ferocious blow from the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon and falling from the twenty-fifth floor, he had almost certainly met his end.
"Lao Jiang!"
"Lao Jiang!"
The remaining team members saw what had happened. Their eyes widened with rage, and they were overcome with anger and grief.
They were clearly close teammates. In the brutal wilderness, members of a Martial Artist team often formed deep bonds. They had to trust one another and rely on each other, entrusting their backs to their teammates, if they were to survive in such a perilous environment.
They couldn't have formed a team otherwise.
"Die!"
The captain's eyes reddened instantly. Like a lion driven mad with rage, he thrust his long spear at the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon with all his might, the weapon shooting forward like a dragon emerging from the sea.
The others fought with all their strength to hold the monster back, trying to create an opening for the captain.
But sometimes, no amount of "rage" could make up for a gap in strength.
At a life-or-death moment like this, they needed to stay calm and clearheaded.
But by then, rage had already clouded the captain's judgment.
"Shhk!"
"Bang!"
The sound of a weapon piercing flesh and the crash of a heavy impact rang out almost simultaneously.
With his fierce attack, the captain had indeed broken through the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon's defenses, using his tremendous strength and unyielding resolve to leave a huge wound on its body.
But his reckless fighting style had also given the dragon an opening. Its massive tail, like a thick iron club, slammed hard into him.
"Urgh!"
The captain spat out a large mouthful of blood. Fortunately, when the tail struck him in midair, his extensive combat experience had let him quickly adjust his angle, so he wasn't knocked straight off the building.
But the long spear was knocked from his hands, and his body slammed hard into the floor. He smashed through the concrete floors of the twenty-fifth, twenty-fourth, and twenty-third stories in succession before falling to the twenty-second. The tremendous impact left bones broken throughout his body, and for the moment, he couldn't get back up.
"Captain!"
"Captain He!"
The other two team members were frantic with concern for their captain. The situation had also taken a sudden turn for the worse.
In the next instant, the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon thrust its head forward and swung its tail again.
"Crack!"
"Bang!"
The two Advanced War Generals were momentarily distracted and had lost all will to fight. They couldn't put up the slightest resistance: one was bitten to death, while the other was knocked away and sent flying down.
Although the Red Flame Scaled Flood Dragon had a huge wound on its body, for a creature of its size, the injury was nothing.
Without a War God-level Martial Artist holding it back with all his strength, even an Advanced War General had almost no power to fight back against a Lord-level Monster. They were as fragile as ants.
