Virtual Universe, Heavenly Region, villa, third floor.
"King Ziyu will be giving a lecture in Chaos City a month from now..." Ye Muxuan murmured as he looked at the information floating before him.
After he entered the Virtual Universe Company's Core Layer, the company had promised to assign him a teacher at Peak King Level. But over the past year or so, he had first spent more than five months immersed in the Shadow Sweep secret technique. Once he had fully mastered it, he spent another six months hunting Chaos Beasts to obtain Chaos True Spirit and make up for his soul's incompleteness. He had never emailed the company with his request, so the higher-ups had not sent anyone over.
After all, every King-level Immortal was part of the Human Race's middle ranks. In particular, those who had reached Peak King Level were all seeds with the potential to break through the final bottleneck, become Immortal, and advance to Venerable. Most of these powerhouses either devoted themselves to cultivation in hopes of breaking through, or ventured into the Outer Battlefield or explored Universe Secret Regions to temper themselves. There were truly few Peak King Level or even Limit King Level experts who still had the inclination to teach disciples in earnest.
Even when giving lectures in Chaos City, the Five Great Powers couldn't force them to teach on a set schedule. Each grandmaster arranged things for himself. Some King-level Immortals gave several lectures a year, while others only taught once every few years.
The company needed Ye Muxuan to make the request himself, and it also had to ask the King-level Immortals for their consent.
King Ziyu and King Shaoling were both Peak King Level experts of the Jinghong Lineage who had become Immortal by following the Origin Law of Wind. Their paths suited Ye Muxuan's current direction quite well.
"...The next lecture will be given by King Shaoling, but not for at least a year."
Ye Muxuan looked away and pondered. For the time being, it seemed that King Ziyu's lecture was the only one he had time to attend. But...
He glanced again at Floating Light on the table. Should he study Floating Light first?
After thinking it over, Ye Muxuan decided to apply for a King-level teacher first, and attend the lecture a month later.
Compared to the others, he was clearly much more solitary. Even with Kong Yan and Zhendan, whom he had always gotten along with, and Qing Lun and Bone Hand, who belonged to the same Jinghong Lineage, he rarely met up with them.
But they had all paid a huge price to enter the Initial Universe, and everyone would treasure their time here. It was only natural that they couldn't afford to be distracted for now. Once they left the Initial Universe, though, they should get together more often.
Virtual Universe, an independent spatial plane. Inside a vast palace hall, a towering man sat upon a throne, scrutinizing the heaps of intelligence and reports before him.
These were sent to him only when the staff below couldn't make a decision on their own. Although he had already dealt with the vast majority of them, many still required his attention!
He processed the information and proposals one by one, then suddenly narrowed his eyes.
This was an application from a World Lord in the Heavenly Region requesting a mentor. Because of a previous agreement, the company had to assign an Immortal of at least Peak King Level to serve as his mentor. The staff below didn't have the authority to make that decision, so the application had ultimately landed before him.
He pulled up the applicant's information: Muxuan.
Born in a Universe Secret Region, he had been cultivating for about 130,000 years. He specialized in the Origin Law of Wind, had personally killed an Alien Race Immortal on the Outer Battlefield, and had revealed a self-created Marquis-level saber technique in the Virtual Universe. He had chosen the Jinghong Chaos Stele, and upon entering the Initial Universe, he had immediately cleared the Thirteenth Floor of the Heavenly Bridge and the Fourteenth Layer of the Illusion Sea, and earned a perfect score at the Immortal Altar. He had exchanged for three secret techniques from the Virtual Universe Company's internal treasure trove: Shadow Sweep, Floating Light, and the first six layers of Miscellaneous Theories of Clear Shadows.
Oh, he was also the one who had personally arranged for him to enter the Heaven and Earth Secret Realm.
It had been more than three years, and only now was he applying for a mentor? Even if he had spent his time in the Initial Universe, it had already been more than a year.
He had probably just exchanged for the secret techniques and become immersed in studying them. After all, he had come from a Universe Secret Region, and the technique he exchanged for after entering the Outer Battlefield was only a common Marquis-level Combat Secret Technique. It was quite possible that he had lost himself in these more profound secret techniques after just obtaining them.
The towering man studied the information he had pulled up, then shifted his gaze to a huge screen nearby, which displayed a wealth of information about the Human Race's King-level Immortals.
As one of the Six Great Peak Races of the Primal Universe, the Human Race's strength went without saying. It had not only a Universe Supreme Being, but also more than a dozen Universe Masters and several thousand Universe Venerables, all of whom were pillars of the race. The Immortals below them, meanwhile, were the best mentors for nurturing the next generation!
Of course, there were huge gaps in strength among the Immortals, too. From the weakest Ordinary Military Lord Immortal to the Invincible King Rank experts capable of escaping with their lives from a Venerable, the difference in strength between them was so vast that saying it was ten thousand times greater would be an understatement!
Initial Military Lord Immortal, High Military Lord Immortal, Early Marquis, High-level Marquis, Peak Marquis, Initial King, High King, Peak King Level, Limit King Level, Invincible King Rank—there were ten full tiers of strength between them.
Unlike the youngsters recruited through the Genius Battle and the Strongest Battle, who only needed an Ordinary Immortal or a Marquis Immortal for their day-to-day guidance, someone like Ye Muxuan—a World Lord General who could create his own Marquis-level saber technique—was different. After he cleared the Thirteenth Floor of the Heavenly Bridge, not even a Marquis Immortal, or even a High King, would necessarily be qualified to guide him. Even a weaker Peak King Level expert might not satisfy him.
As a Universe Overlord, the towering man knew all too well just how talented a World Lord was if he had come from a Universe Secret Region and could kill an Immortal despite being a mere World Lord. And that was without even mentioning that this World Lord had cultivated for only 130,000 years and had relied on nothing more than a Marquis-level Combat Secret Technique.
That was why he had been willing to let him enter the Heaven and Earth Secret Realm.
However, there were indeed few Immortals with spare time and Law Comprehension at Peak King Level or above. And King-level Immortals had all sorts of personalities; not every Peak King Level Immortal was willing to teach disciples.
Besides, a genius like this had already joined the Virtual Universe Company. Naturally, they couldn't entrust him to an Immortal from an Alien Race in the Hong Alliance. Only an Immortal of the Human Race could be trusted, and one under the Virtual Universe Company's own banner would be best.
King Tianjing, King Shaoling, King Ziyu, and King Moke—these were the four Immortals currently staying in Chaos City. They all followed the same path as the Jinghong Chaos Stele. But they had entered Chaos City to avoid getting caught up in trivial matters and focus wholeheartedly on comprehending the Law of Time, hoping to master the complete Law of Time and advance to Venerable! Even their lectures were only occasional, so they naturally couldn't be assigned as mentors.
The other King-level Immortals of the Jinghong Lineage staying in Chaos City were in much the same situation. Besides, they weren't members of the Virtual Universe Company's own ranks.
Wait...
The towering man's expression shifted. He thought of a great being.
