After setting Hoshinomiya Chie safely on her feet, Kitagawa Kai returned to the summit to keep giving the girls their flying-acrobat experience.
The girls all reacted differently. Some squeezed their eyes shut the moment they left the ground and spent the whole trip burrowing into his arms.
Others grew excited once they adjusted, urging him to go faster and refusing to let go even after they reached the foot of the mountain.
Kitagawa Kai adjusted his speed to each girl's comfort level. Trip after trip, the foot of the mountain soon grew lively again.
When he reached the summit for the final time, Chabashira Sae was the only one left on the spacious viewing platform, standing quietly in the wind as she waited for him.
"Kozue, it's your turn."
Watching the handsome boy approach, Chabashira Sae did not step forward right away like the others. Instead, she gestured toward the bench beside her.
"You've made so many trips back and forth without a break. You must be tired, right? Sit down and rest."
"I'm fine... this little bit of exercise is nothing." Kitagawa Kai had been about to say there was no way he could be tired, but the dangerous look in Chabashira's eyes instantly sent his survival instincts into overdrive. He wisely changed his tune. "Ahem... all right, now that you mention it, I do feel a little tired."
"If you're tired, you should sit down, catch your breath, and rest for a while."
Chabashira Sae looked satisfied with his answer.
She knew perfectly well that this much exercise was nowhere near enough to wear him out.
