The argument continued for quite some time before gradually dying down. Another half an hour later, Yin Li reappeared in the main hall.
Yet the face that was usually so calm and composed now carried an unmistakable trace of despondency and exhaustion.
Her team had fallen out with her.
What had happened was not complicated.
When Yin Li informed the others of the proposed nine-to-one division of the spoils, nearly everyone voiced fierce opposition.
They felt that a ten percent share was outrageously little. It was like tossing scraps to beggars.
Some demanded that their share be raised to fifty percent, or else they would refuse to join the battle.
Others questioned Yin Li's judgment, believing she had greatly overestimated Qin Yan's strength.
But what truly escalated the conflict completely was the team's other leader—Chu Yun.
Chu Yun was a Heavenly Stairway passer from the South Academy. During their campaigns in the Western Region, he had always been a rival equal to Yin Li, and he held nearly half the team's influence in his hands.
Before all the disciples, he bluntly questioned Yin Li's motives.
"Yin Li, you keep saying this is for everyone's good, but I'd like to ask—why should Qin Yan take ninety percent of the spoils? No matter how strong he is, he's only one person. We have twenty Holy Land disciples here! You're favoring Qin Yan so blatantly... don't tell me you and Qin Yan are involved?"
His words were dripping with insinuation, yet they struck a chord with many people present.
That was right. No matter how strong Qin Yan was, how could he possibly compare to twenty Holy Land elites?
In their eyes, Yin Li had either been blinded by Qin Yan or had selfish motives. Perhaps she intended to use the team's strength
