One was spiritual energy, and the other was Weird energy.

Then they should have worn each other down, with one weakening as the other grew stronger, one rising as the other declined.
Yet the Weird did not follow that rule.
Instead, it had directly stepped outside those rules.
It operated according to an entirely separate logic.
It did not seem like energy that could possibly have originated from the same world.
Its rule was that Weird entities could only be dealt with by Weird entities.
Spiritual energy and any conventional weapon were useless against them.
