"I won't be able to launch another attack for a long time."
"Slytherin's Ring (referring to the Resurrection Stone Horcrux; Voldemort doesn't know the ring's true identity) is too far from me."
"The Moon's Magic is mostly used to maintain my sanity and mend my soul."
In the Defense Against the Dark Arts Office, Voldemort sighs.
--Where exactly are you sane?
Quirrell keeps his head lowered, but still wears a respectful expression.
"Without a physical body, I can't fully exert my power, and I can no longer create [Horcruxes] now." Voldemort begins to long for the strength he had when united with his [Horcruxes].
Even though the [Horcrux] was the true body during that union, preventing him from turning into mist and flying, it was still a minor flaw.
United with the Diadem, it was the perfect fusion of intellect and power.
United with the ring, it connected him to that Misty World, granting senses beyond this dimension and a wider range for Apparition.
United with the Cup, it was an endless, nearly infinite surge of life force.
It was the ring's extra-dimensional senses that let him successfully send the ring to the bottom of the sea.
It was the Cup's immortal body that let him recklessly sacrifice life force and successfully send the ring into a rocket launching into the sky.
"Back then, I was completely consumed by the panic of the Diadem's destruction."
"I was afraid Dumbledore had many sides I didn't understand."
"I only thought about hiding the remaining [Horcruxes] well, in places no one could ever reach."
"I never expected that returning to Hogwarts, the me from the Cup and the me from the ring were strong enough—stronger than me at my peak."
"Whether it was seizing the [Philosopher's Stone] or killing Harry Potter, it would have been effortless."
Hearing this, Quirrell grumbles inwardly—Are you sure? You got beaten like a dog ten days ago and came back complaining about a sore ass.
"So I need to correct this mistake and take up residence in your mediocre body again."
"Master." Quirrell panics.
Voldemort sneers, "What do you think has been fueling your sudden magical progress these days?"
"Our union isn't simple. Until I'm resurrected, unless you die, I can only possess this shell of yours, unable to inhabit any other being."
"Your soul and body are permanently marked with my eternal brand."
"That's why you can share in the Moon's power."
"This connection, even Dumbledore cannot sever it."
"You are me, Quirinus."
Quirrell falls to his knees in despair, "I am you?"
He looks at the full-length mirror; moonlight flows faintly across his body's surface.
"I am Voldemort, I am the true Savior, I am the Dark Lord!"
A mad laugh echoes through the empty room.
Soon, it becomes two.
And finally, they merge into one.
The turban catches fire without a flame.
He won't need that thing anymore.
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
"I thought about making it a Christmas gift, but I think... it's better to give it to you directly." Dumbledore gives a light flick, shaking a cloak out of thin air.
The cloak gleams with silver light, like liquid, and its touch feels as if woven from water.
"James's cloak~!" Sirius's eyes flicker with nostalgia.
Lupin looks in surprise at Harry's invisible hand, "It can still turn invisible now?"
Harry notices Dumbledore staring intently at him, and the wand in his pocket is no longer the Elder Wand.
"You're observing the reaction between me and it?"
Dumbledore's smile stiffens; he still can't quite adapt to Harry's direct, core-targeting way of speaking.
"Yes, this is a very ancient treasure, different from all Invisibility Cloaks on the market. It only works well among Potter descendants."
"After James and Lily were protected by the [Fidelius Charm] and no longer needed it, I even borrowed it to study."
"I can turn invisible too, right?" Sirius places his hand under the cloak, looking puzzled.
"I'm not talking about invisibility. I'm talking about an secret perhaps no Potter has ever discovered," Dumbledore shakes his head, "Stopping aging. When wearing it, Potter descendants stop aging."
"For the Potter family, that's equivalent to the Philosopher's Stone?" Sirius gulps.
Dumbledore nods, "No one wears an invisible garment all the time, so its secret remains invisible too."
"I saw a world." Harry said, draped in the Invisibility Cloak. "A world covered in bright, thin mist. It felt like I existed in that world at the same time."
After entering the threshold of [Golden Light Incantation 9.0], his body and spirit began to transform further.
Unlike the original timeline, where he failed to perceive the peculiarity of the [Invisibility Cloak], he now grasped its essence.
Unlike a [Horcrux], whose soul completely sinks into the [Misty Illusion], he existed simultaneously across two dimensions—reality and the [Misty Illusion].
Thus, he evaded the gaze of death.
At the same time, an obscure fluctuation of magical power began to register within his perception.
—A power originating from the Peverells?
In the Tale of the Three Brothers, the third brother—Ignotus Peverell—chose Death's Cloak and died of old age. His granddaughter, Iolanthe Peverell, married Hardwin Potter.
Harry was a descendant of that line, Peverell blood flowing through his veins.
"Misty World!" Sirius frowned, recalling Voldemort's words.
That would mean only Harry could kill Voldemort's true body in the Misty World.
Though Harry was strong, as his godfather, Sirius only wanted to see him marry and have children soon.
He quickly asked, "Dumbledore, have you figured out any way? We can't destroy Voldemort without you."
"I'm missing the most crucial piece of the puzzle." Dumbledore sighed.
Of the Deathly Hallows, he possessed two, but the one he needed most—the [Resurrection Stone]—eluded him.
He had no need for the invincible [Elder Wand], nor the [Invisibility Cloak] that evaded death. He only wanted his sister back.
"Bob Ogden. He once worked in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, but later grew tired of everything in the wizarding world and went into hiding in the Muggle World."
"If he's still alive, perhaps his memories..."
"You can't find him either?" Sirius asked, surprised.
"There are nearly 5.4 billion Muggles on this planet." Dumbledore sighed. "I'm not even sure he's still in Britain."
He was filled with regret.
He had once been so close to the [Resurrection Stone]. Tom, still a student, had worn it openly on his hand. But by the time he returned after graduation seeking a job, it had vanished.
"How did you confirm he knew the whereabouts of the [Resurrection Stone]?" Harry asked.
Ogden's memory had only fallen into Dumbledore's hands around 1995.
And the information within merely revealed that the [Resurrection Stone] had once been in the possession of the Gaunt family.
After that, Dumbledore visited Morfin Gaunt, Voldemort's uncle, in Azkaban and obtained his memory.
But that only confirmed that Voldemort had killed the Riddle family, framed his uncle, and taken [Slytherin's Ring], which held the [Resurrection Stone].
Neither memory held any real value.
In the original timeline, they were only used for teaching.
He could roughly guess why Dumbledore had never thought to search the Gaunt Shack.
That place was the residence of Slytherin's last descendant—no secret at all. In the eyes of certain witches and wizards who knew its history, it was even a popular tourist spot.
No one could have imagined that the knowledgeable Voldemort, for the ridiculous reason of never reading fairy tales, would fail to recognize the [Resurrection Stone], turn it into a [Horcrux], and hide it right there.
