Background / History
Tang San grows up in Holy Soul Village as Tang Hao's son. Their impoverished home lacks even proper furniture, while Tang Hao spends much of his blacksmith income on alcohol; Tang San eventually takes responsibility for cooking. He becomes familiar with Lin Yu and Old Jack after supplying rabbits for spicy rabbit heads. 2 3
At six, Tang San attends the Martial Soul awakening with Tang Hao's permission. He awakens Blue Silver Grass and is measured to possess Innate Full Soul Power. He later enters Notting Academy and becomes Yu Xiaogang's disciple, declaring that a teacher for one day is a father for life. 3 4 13
At Notting Academy, Tang San meets Xiao Wu and feels an immediate, inexplicable fondness toward her. After the academy dean humiliates him, he resolves to wait until graduation before taking revenge, prioritizing cultivation in the meantime. 12 13
Tang Hao brings him back to the Clear Sky Sect, where Tang San reveals his Twin Martial Souls—Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer—and his Level 29 Soul Power. His talent secures his return despite opposition from some sect elders. 61 62
After learning that Martial Soul Hall has captured Tang Hao, Tang San joins Shrek Academy and enters the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. He plans to use the championship match in Martial Soul City as an opportunity to rescue his father, but the plan fails. Tang Hao is publicly executed before him, leaving Tang San grieving and sworn to destroy Martial Soul Hall. 85 90 105 106
Tang San later proposes annihilating the Blue Lightning Tyrant Sect to create a continental crisis and unite forces against Martial Soul Hall. The Clear Sky Sect follows his plan, and the sect is destroyed. 133
When Tang Xiao becomes a Fallen Soul Master and massacres Clear Sky Sect disciples for power, Tang San initially submits to his uncle's authority and eventually travels with him toward Sea God Island. There, Tang San receives the Sea God's Godly Nine Trials but prematurely attaches a Soul Ring to the Clear Sky Hammer, permanently limiting his future ring configuration and slowing advancement. 165 167 245 254
After the Sea God's Mark and trial-derived power vanish, Tang San falls into despair before resolving to seek a stronger path to godhood. He subsequently murders Yu Xiaogang, Flender, and Liu Erlong, absorbs their Soul Power, and becomes a Fallen Soul Master. 297 298 299
On the Sun Moon Continent, Tang San and Tang Xiao confront Lin Yu's group. Lin Yu exposes Tang San as an Extraterrestrial Demon who occupied the body of the real Tang San. During the final battle, Tang San drains Tang Xiao's power and uses him as a shield, but survives only briefly before Ah Yin mortally wounds him with the Blue Silver Overlord Spear. 316 319 320
Appearance
Tang San's Fallen Soul Master transformation radically alters his appearance: black markings spread across his face, his blue hair turns white, and his body is surrounded by a dark, fallen aura. 317
- His Blue Silver Entanglement becomes black, thorn-covered, and bloodthirsty after his fall. 317
- His blood carries a decaying aura capable of corroding the ground after his fatal injury. 320
Personality
Tang San is deeply ambitious and sensitive to humiliation. He views strength as the means to secure respect, plans revenge patiently when outmatched, and repeatedly vows to destroy Martial Soul Hall after its treatment of his father. 13 85 106
He is also calculating under pressure. Rather than allowing Tai Tan to launch an immediate rescue attempt, Tang San argues for exploiting the tournament in Martial Soul City, where Martial Soul Hall's attention will be divided. He later chooses to flee from the Fifth Elder rather than fight without advantage. 90 168
His later actions reveal escalating ruthlessness. He considers Yu Xiaogang useful rather than trustworthy, kills his three teachers to absorb their power, and ultimately betrays Tang Xiao by draining him and placing him in the path of incoming attacks. 168 298 319
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, both displayed before the Clear Sky Sect elders. 62
- His Blue Silver Grass establishes him as a Control-System Battle Soul Master. 88
- His Clear Sky Hammer is his second Martial Soul and the source of his premature cultivation error. 245
- He and Tang Xiao jointly use the Great Sumeru Hammer to defend against a combined assault. 317
- Attaching a ring to the Clear Sky Hammer before completing Blue Silver Grass's cultivation reduces the maximum age of his future Seventh Soul Ring and impedes advancement at the Titled Douluo stage. 245
Blue Silver Entanglement
Tang San can summon Blue Silver Grass vines to bind opponents. 317
- Following his transformation into a Fallen Soul Master, the vines develop black thorns and a bloodthirsty aura. 317
- He uses fallen Blue Silver Grass to pierce Tang Xiao and drain his power during their final battle. 319
- The technique cannot meaningfully threaten Ah Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor. 317
Mysterious Heaven Skill and Hidden Weapons
Tang San retains cultivation methods and techniques from the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record of his past-life memories. 3 83
- His strength is attributed partly to these inherited techniques rather than Yu Xiaogang's training. 83
- He crafts and carries hidden weapons, instinctively reaching for them when Clear Sky Sect members insult Tang Hao. 61
- Lin Yu identifies his hidden weapons and powers foreign to the world as evidence of his extraterrestrial origin. 316
Sea God's Trial
Tang San receives the Sea God's supreme Godly Nine Trials after arriving on Sea God Island. 254
- The Sea God's Mark and the power granted by the trial later disappear without explanation. 297
- Losing the trial leaves him uncertain whether he can oppose Lin Yu without the Sea God's power. 297
Fallen Soul Master Absorption
After killing Yu Xiaogang, Flender, and Liu Erlong, Tang San absorbs their Soul Power and becomes a Fallen Soul Master. 298 299
- His transformed Martial Soul radiates death and corruption rather than life. 299
- His fallen power allows him to drain Tang Xiao's strength through Blue Silver Grass. 319
- His pursuit of power ultimately leaves him unable to recover from Ah Yin's final strike despite black Divine Power attempting to heal him. 320
