Wolves could travel a thousand miles and still find meat, while dogs could travel a thousand miles and still eat shit. The greatest difference between them wasn't strength, but their wolfish nature.

Relying on their skilled hunting tactics and tight teamwork, the Snow Wolf pack surrounded the White Bear mother and cub on the frozen lake, steadily driving them backward.

The bear was bigger and stronger, but against the tightly coordinated pack, she was gradually losing the upper hand. To make matters worse, she had a cub at her side.

The cub looked like it had only just been born and had only recently been brought out of the den. It showed no fear of the wolves—in fact, it seemed a little curious. It kept crawling out from under its mother's protection to peek at the pack.

"Roar!" The White Bear bellowed a warning, but the wolves weren't deterred. Led by their alpha, they bared their teeth, their breath steaming in the cold as they slowly closed in.

They looked vicious. If the mother and cub didn't retreat, the alpha would surely order an attack. The wolves wouldn't mind having bear meat for dinner.

The White Bear wasn't willing to give up the chance to catch food. She was retreating, but still seemed determined to hold her ground a little longer. This was a harsh environment, and the coldest time of the year. Most predators had already gone into hibernation, and she had only come out to hunt because of Little Ice Bear.

If she left now, the ice hole would likely freeze over again once the wolves had caught enough food. If she failed to find prey elsewhere, where food was even harder to come by, her cub could starve to death.

Her natural maternal instinct made her brave
