Finding Some Fun

The next morning.

Light streamed through the window paper, illuminating motes of dust drifting through the room.

Shen Hui rose early. When he pushed open his door, there was still no movement from Xu Ye's room.

He woke Lu Huan, and when they went downstairs, a brazier had already been lit in the hall, filling it with cozy warmth.

The waiter was standing behind the counter, wiping tables. Seeing him come down, he hurriedly greeted him with a smile.

"Did you sleep well last night, sir? I'll bring your breakfast right out."

Shen Hui found a table by the window and sat down.

Before long, Lu Huan and Xu Ye came downstairs one after the other.

Lu Huan was still rubbing her eyes, but Xu Ye was already brimming with energy as he shouted.

"Waiter, three bowls of noodles, three fried eggs, and a plate of sliced braised beef! Bring some buns too if you have any! And stir-fry a few side dishes..."

The waiter acknowledged him, and soon brought the food over.

Shen Hui stirred the noodles in his bowl. They were uneven in thickness, and the broth was bland, but at least the eggs had been fried golden-brown and looked decent enough.

Xu Ye slurped down his noodles, making an alarmingly loud racket.

That was simply how he was—eating a meal like fighting a war, splashing soup everywhere until even the cook in the back kitchen could not help poking his head out for a look.
