Background

Lu Huan was a timid little demon girl rescued by Shen Hui before receiving a name. She followed him because she believed him to be “a good person,” showing immediate trust despite her fearfulness and limited understanding of the human world 94 97.

Ji Chen wished to accept her as his closing disciple and gave her the Daoist name Jing Huan, but Shen Hui urged that she be allowed to grow older and choose for herself. Lu Huan did not understand parents, names, or the implications of apprenticeship; she was initially more attached to the freedom of the mountains 97.

At Clear Wind Temple, she was seized by soldiers and bit their commander in resistance. Nie Yun intervened after the officer turned violent, saving Lu Huan despite her injuries and fear 140 141. During the later destruction of the temple's former circle, Qingyi fled with her in an attempt to protect her; Shen Hui then took Lu Huan with him after killing the fleeing group 164.

When Lu Huan asked to learn magic so that she could protect herself, Shen Hui began teaching her after becoming Clear Wind Temple's tenth-generation temple master. She chose the human method of Qi Induction and remained at his side as he traveled and cultivated 166.
