Yan Chihuo returned to his residence and did nothing but cultivate in bitter seclusion. His twelve rakshasa servants had long since grown accustomed to it and no longer found it strange.
Several days later, Yan Chihuo received word that the First General—the Yin-Yang Rakshasa—had been ambushed and killed while carrying out a mission. Yan Chihuo was startled, and something came to mind, but he said nothing.
That day, he was cultivating when a streak of white light flew toward him. It was a transmission talisman. Yan Chihuo caught it and poured mana into it, whereupon Heaven's End King's voice rang out. "Double-Eyed, come to me."
Yan Chihuo rose to his feet, left his cave abode, and arrived at Heaven's End King's palace. The great hall was exceptionally deserted, with only Heaven's End King inside.
Upon seeing Yan Chihuo, he said, "Double-Eyed, I summoned you this time because there is an important matter I need you to handle."
Yan Chihuo said, "Please give your orders, Your Highness."
Heaven's End King said, "You know that all these years, I have sought to unite the Netherworld. To me, the other eight Netherworld Kings are thorns in my eye and splinters in my flesh—especially Heaven's Equal King. He ranks second, above even me. Thus, I planted a number of spies among his subordinates. Now, some intelligence must be sent out, but someone needs to go receive it."
Yan Chihuo said, "Why not use spells such as flying sword messages to send the intelligence out?"
Heaven's End King said, "Because within several thousand miles of Heaven's Equal King's residence, spells like flying sword messages cannot possibly escape his notice. Heaven's Equal King would see every bit of information transmitted with perfect clarity. Therefore, he needs a trustworthy person to carry this intelligence out."
