Background / History

Tylen was a successful businessman in his former life. After learning that he had terminal pancreatic cancer, he chose to end his life; his memories then merged with those of Tyron Arthas Magnus, a teenage commoner apprentice at Cain Wizard Tower. Tyron was the third child of a western Wave City blacksmith and a homemaker, and had earned entry into the tower through its written examination six months earlier. 1

He inherited a precarious position: a corpse-collecting apprentice with little money, poor resources, and insufficient Mental Power to safely pass the upcoming assessment. His situation changes when he awakens the gacha-based Monthly Card system and draws the Legendary Slacker Saint Body talent. 1 2 3

Appearance

Tylen initially presents as a thin, undernourished corpse handler whose hands are rough with calluses and permanently marked by corpse oil. He commonly wears a brown linen work robe and protective equipment suited to the mortuary. 1 6 19

  • Rough, callused hands stained by corpse oil. 1
  • Uses a stained protective suit and glass goggles while processing remains. 6
  • Initially slight and rib-thin, with a Constitution of 1. 15 29
  • Develops visibly defined, symmetrical musculature through intensive physical training; Constitution rises to 1.8. 37

Personality

Tylen is analytical, resource-conscious, and intensely goal-oriented. His former-life business experience and gaming mindset lead him to calculate costs, preserve rare resources, conceal his capabilities, and treat the Monthly Card’s tasks as an optimized progression system. 2 3 28 45

He is disciplined rather than reckless. Even when frustrated by failed rune practice, he regains his composure and continues training; when granted valuable materials, he avoids spending or selling them carelessly because he cannot explain their origin. 28

Despite adapting to the wizarding world’s treatment of corpses as resources, Tylen retains strong personal principles. He helps Old Jack recover Linda’s body, honors his promise to give the dead a dignified burial, and refuses to discard bodies merely because they no longer have material value. 12 13 21 27

In conflict, he is composed and pragmatic rather than merciful. After Haige’s ambush and the sibling pair’s betrayal, he becomes more guarded toward strangers and responds to lethal threats with decisive force. 23 24 25

Abilities & Skills

Slacker Saint Body

A Legendary passive talent obtained from the Ancient Gacha Pool. When Tylen is alone in an enclosed space and unobserved, it increases his efficiency by 3000%, effectively granting thirtyfold learning, thinking, training, and meditation efficiency. 3 4

  • Allows rapid analysis, memorization, spell deduction, and rune study. 3 14 41
  • Greatly accelerates meditation and Mental Power recovery. 4 13 18
  • Enables him to complete corpse preparation work in minutes rather than hours. 6
  • Its effect ceases when he is being monitored, allowing Tylen to use the sudden slowdown as a warning of surveillance. 4
  • Does not accelerate external processes such as acid-soaking reactions. 6

Grand Monthly Card

Tylen possesses a task-and-reward system with daily and weekly objectives, level rewards, experience books, alchemy materials, meditation resources, and gacha draws. 2 13 28

  • Daily tasks reward activities such as meditation, corpse collection, magic practice, Mental Power expenditure, and spell deduction. 2 28
  • Experience books directly add proficiency toward spells, skills, and knowledge. 2 14
  • The card reaches Level 11 after Tylen’s first week of intensive task completion. 37
  • Its rewards are difficult to convert into open wealth because Tylen cannot safely explain their origin. 28 29

Magic Thorn Art

A support magic that consumes mana to create a high-frequency oscillating blade along a weapon’s surface, reducing friction and granting ordinary metal enough sharpness to cut steel. 13

  • Can enchant tools such as his boning knife for cutting and combat. 13
  • Hand Blade Form creates a stable mana blade over Tylen’s palm through three-dimensional resonance weaving. 18
  • Has enough cutting power to sever Black Glass’s arm and kill Haige in a single strike. 20 24
  • Can be applied to the Blood Rune Bone Hound’s fangs, substantially improving its bite. 36
  • The Hand Blade Form is mentally demanding and can fully exhaust Tylen’s Spirit Sea after use. 18

Bone Domination and Undead Control

After earning Markley’s trust, Tylen receives personal instruction in the Bone Domination Rune, a comprehensive rune framework for constructing and directing skeletal undead. 27

  • Constructs a Skeleton Dog from engraved bones. 35 49
  • Uses his own blood to establish spiritual resonance, creating the more responsive Blood Rune Bone Hound. 36
  • Trains the hound until it can move, turn, attack, and react with flexibility close to Markley’s Skeleton Soldiers. 36
  • Uses the hidden hound to ambush and kill a magic-wielding opponent during the rune competition. 47
  • His core spell model, Spirit Summoning Control Method, can theoretically summon more than one hundred specters once perfected. 2

Runic Studies and Rune Drafting

Tylen has exceptional rune-drawing speed and precision, supported by his Slacker Saint Body and his father’s blacksmithing-influenced understanding of binding techniques. 8 12

  • Produces one hundred Karl Rune frameworks for Black Glass’s gang in exchange for Linda’s body. 12
  • Pre-inscribes Ian Rune frameworks on corpses prepared for Markley’s class. 15
  • Uses bone as a low-cost engraving medium instead of expensive rune paper. 28 30
  • Completes a difficult rune carving during the White Cloud Eye competition in only thirty minutes. 43
  • Reaches Runic Studies Level 1 through study of Markley’s lecture notes. 41

Physical Conditioning

Tylen compensates for his initially weak body through intensive nutrition and repeated daily training. 31 32 37

  • Raises Constitution from 1.2 to 1.8 in three days. 36 37
  • Reaches Constitution 2 by the time of his duel against a magic-using apprentice. 47
  • Uses an unnamed ritual to temporarily raise Constitution from 2 to 3, followed by fatigue. 49

  • Purple Diamond Engraving Knife — A high-quality carving knife gifted by Markley for rune work. 30 41

  • Hunting-team badge — Badge issued by Markley to establish Tylen’s identity and status while operating outside the city. 49

Relationships

  • Markley Kane — Mentor and official wizard of Cain Tower. Initially dismissive of Tylen, Markley becomes impressed by his diligence, talent, loyalty, and judgment; he provides private teaching, resources, protection, and eventually assigns him to a hunting team. 8 21 27 30 49
  • Old Jack — An older acquaintance who had helped Tylen before his rise. Tylen aids Jack in recovering Linda’s body, later buries the couple together after Jack’s death. 12 13 27
  • Linda — Old Jack’s wife. Her stolen corpse prompts Tylen’s first major confrontation with the Red Wine Gang. 12 13
  • Violet Star — Markley’s elven apprentice and Tylen’s senior sister. She is curious about his rune work and pays him for corpse collection. 15 18 19

  • Locke and Kathy Ralph Hoffman — Fellow Cain Tower competitors who stand with Tylen against Blazing Sun Tower apprentices and later admire his Skeleton Dog. 43 48 49

Trivia

  • He is an accomplished cook due to having cooked for himself since childhood and later cooking for college roommates in his former life. 32
  • Tylen deliberately hides behind Locke and Kathy after the rune competition so that their public standing, rather than his own, receives the visible credit. 45
