Although they had spent only ten days together, Moyu recognized Light's voice. It caught him completely off guard.
On the other end of the line, Light recognized Moyu's voice too and was dumbfounded.
He had called this number about a request for information on Dis Mendico's movements. The client, however, was registered under the name Kester.
He had never expected Moyu to answer.
"Moyu?"
After a stunned pause, Light asked in an uncertain voice.
"It's me."
"..."
Light was genuinely surprised. After a brief silence, he accepted it and moved on to confirm the request.
"Were you the one who posted the request for information on the movements of Dis Mendico, the B-Rank Wanted Criminal?"
"Yeah."
At that, Moyu understood why Light had suddenly called.
Light must have seen the request concerning Dis Mendico on the Hunter Association's job board.
Moyu had asked Sambika to post it, but he was listed as the direct contact.
It was quite a coincidence that Light had taken an interest in the request and contacted him.
Then again, Light was probably still working toward his One-Star title. It made sense that he would set his sights on Dis Mendico, who had been especially active lately.
He was already B-Rank?
When Moyu first saw the news report about the man who had been brutally murdered, Dis Mendico had only been a C-Rank Wanted Criminal.
In less than two months, his wanted rank had shot up to B-Rank, just one step below the highest rank, A-Rank.
"Moyu, you..."
After getting confirmation, Light's thoughts were a mess.
He couldn't help firing off several questions.
"The registered client's name was Kester, wasn't it? And this phone number... did you get another one yourself? Why did you post this request?"
"I don't have an ID Card. You know that."
