Dark clouds rolled overhead, thunder rumbled, and soon a torrential downpour began across the Odyssey Region. The rainy season had started.
The rain of the rainy season never seemed to end. Water flowed through ditches of all sizes into rivers, then converged into four great rivers.
The rain was heavy and relentless. Before long, the ditches could no longer drain it fast enough, and pools of water formed in low-lying areas.
A few days passed in the blink of an eye. The unceasing downpour sent the rivers' water levels surging. Unable to reach the sea in time, the torrents spilled over their banks and caused floods.
The muddy floodwaters soon submerged the downstream areas. As the rain continued, the flooding crept toward the middle reaches.
The rainy season was a time of celebration for the Murlocs. This year, it had arrived especially early, before many crops could be harvested.
Villagers who fled in haste left behind large quantities of household goods.
Murlocs hunted in the flooded areas and searched for treasure in the villages.
As the rain continued, the lower reaches of Odyssey became a vast expanse of white. It was a sign of dangerously high floodwaters, and the entire downstream region had turned into a sea.
Residents of the lower reaches of Odyssey crowded into walled towns to take shelter.
The towns weren't completely safe. As urban flooding worsened, residents could only flee to higher ground.
The Murlocs weren't content to celebrate in the wilderness. Bold ones slipped into towns and hunted there.
The residents had to avoid the floodwaters and guard against Murlocs sneaking into town. They spent every day on edge.
Compared with the other downstream territories, Wrynn Territory, at the very lowest reaches, was practically a paradise.
