It was the same old story: the Abyssal Demon Gods and the Star Sea Gods didn't want to get involved in a bloody fight, so they sent the Four Great Malignancies to go annoy their enemies.
The Sam Plane was wrapped in a Spore Jungle floating in the void.
Spore Dust shrouded vast stretches of the Star Sea. The Star Sea Evil Spirits, Abyssal Fiends, and various undead who ventured into the cloud of Spore Dust never returned.
"Pathetic. When it comes to dealing with Mushroom People, our undead are still the best!"
Spore Mycelium was especially effective against flesh-and-blood life. In this harassment campaign, the undead army had performed far better than the evil spirits and fiends of Tzeentch, Khorne, and Nurgle.
Their undead weren't afraid of spore infection, and could go toe-to-toe with Mycelium Constructs and Spore Goblins.
This made them feel quite pleased with themselves. They disparaged the Three Sources of Evil in front of the overseers, hoping the Abyssal Demon Gods and Star Sea Gods would recognize their strength and loosen the leash.
If their power grew, the Spore Jungle wouldn't be able to throw its weight around.
The Abyssal Demon Gods and Star Sea Gods remained noncommittal. They told them to prove themselves first.
If they really managed to fight their way into the Sam Plane, then giving them a few privileges wasn't out of the question.
Egged on by the Abyssal Demon Gods and the Star Sea, the Reformist Faction of the Necromancer Council went all out, eager to prove their worth.
The Necromancer Council thought highly of itself, treating the Spore Dust as if it were nothing.
The undead army pushed forward, far ahead of everyone else.
"In the name of the Light!"
