The Hobarton Legion and the Skeleton Legion were sparring while Kurd City rapidly expanded.
This was a race against time, and Medivh wasn't expanding outward ring by ring according to his original city-building plan.
Instead, Medivh built in sections. The westernmost wall stretched north to the southern bank of the Wan River, then turned ninety degrees and continued east along the riverbank.
The southernmost wall ran east along the foothills of the Winter Mountains. At the junction of those foothills and the Hengduan Mountains, it turned ninety degrees and continued north.
The individual walls went up quickly. By mid-March, they had joined up where the southern bank of the Wan River met the foothills of the Hengduan Mountains.
This enclosed the area on Kurd's map that bordered the Wan River to the north, the Hengduan Mountains to the east, and the Winter Mountains to the south.
The completed districts included the central district and the First through Sixth Ring Districts, for a total of 132 districts.
Starting from the Sixth Ring, the city expanded only north and east. New districts lay in those two directions alone.
The Sixth Ring had twenty-two districts, while the Seventh had twenty-four. Each successive ring had two more districts than the one before.
By the Tenth Ring, the new districts had reached the foothills of the Hengduan Mountains, so expansion to the east stopped there.
From the Eleventh Ring onward, expansion proceeded only northward, with each ring adding just sixteen new districts due north.
The wall along the Wan River formed the northern boundary of the Eighteenth Ring District.
From the First Ring District to the Eighteenth, along with the central district where Medivh lived, Kurd City had a total of 368 planned districts and covered more than 3,600 square kilometers.
