Looks like Tang Wulin had arrived.
Nan Fusheng did not stop cultivating. He had no plans to look for Tang Wulin. They were in the same class anyway, so for now, he would let Tang Wulin get acquainted with his roommates.
Cultivation transition...
Early in the morning, when the first ray of sunlight shone through the window, Nan Fusheng opened his eyes.
After meditating for nearly a full day and night, he felt refreshed and energized. With his three "power banks" as well, his Soul Power seemed to have improved slightly. After reaching level ten, the rate at which his Soul Power increased had clearly accelerated somewhat. However, the Soul Power required to advance was undoubtedly greater as well. It would take steady accumulation over time.
After washing up with his three power banks, Nan Fusheng headed straight for the academy cafeteria. Along the way, he heard students passing by discussing things like, "Have you heard? A super big eater came to the school," or some legend about a bottomless pit.
The Intermediate Division cafeteria was in a small building beside the Main Teaching Building. The building had three floors, serving the six grades of the Intermediate Division. First and second years ate on the first floor.
There were only tables in the cafeteria, with no chairs. This was Eastsea Academy's rule: students had to eat standing up, in order to heighten their sense of urgency. Nan Fusheng could not help complaining inwardly, What kind of Shrek rule is this?
Nan Fusheng had not arrived particularly early, and quite a few students were already eating. There were three serving windows, marked Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C. Grade A Meals were fully paid, and naturally used the best ingredients. Grade B Meals required partial payment, while Grade C Meals were completely free.
He took Wang Ba and the other two straight to the Grade B Meal window.
Breakfast was plentiful: milk, eggs, sausages, bread, and vegetables.
Nan Fusheng took some of everything with the three of them. After paying, they found a corner and began eating. Some of the ingredients in the Grade B Meals came from farmed Soul Beasts. Though their nutritional value was not as high as that of Grade A Meals, they were still superior to the entirely ordinary ingredients used in Grade C Meals.
Nan Fusheng was not short on money now. Before leaving Aolai City, he had spoken with the city's law enforcement officers about selling his family home. Though they had initially declined tactfully with remarks such as, "You're still too young," he had ultimately persuaded them to sell the house in Aolai City.
He had gained more than 1.2 million Federal Coins, and with the government's monthly subsidy of one thousand Federal Coins for Soul Masters, he could easily afford Grade B Meals. As for Grade A Meals, he would just have one once or twice occasionally.
After breakfast, Nan Fusheng sat in the cafeteria and waited quietly for the opening ceremony.
By late morning, the opening ceremony began.
The ceremony was held in Eastsea Academy's enormous plaza. This was the only time each year that the Advanced Division and Intermediate Division gathered together in full.
"Hello, students. Today is the annual opening ceremony. Now, let us welcome Dean Yu to give a speech."
Eastsea Academy's dean was an elderly man who appeared to be in his sixties. He was of average build and unremarkable in appearance, with graying hair and glasses, carrying the air of a scholar.
"Hello, students. Every year at this time, I feel somewhat emotional. A group of students from the Intermediate Division and Advanced Division graduates and leaves the academy. Yet at the same time, some students advance from the Intermediate Division to the Advanced Division, while new students join us."
"In my view, an academy is like the Federation's blood-making institution, continuously supplying the Federation with qualified talent. In the future, I hope that all of you can also..."
Nan Fusheng stood among the new students, patiently listening to the dean's lengthy speech.
The dean was an excellent speaker and had no script. He spoke vividly and emotionally for a full fifteen minutes before gradually wrapping up.
After the dean's speech came the most important matter of the opening ceremony: class assignments.
Students who did not need to participate in the assignment process left first. The new Advanced Division students went to the Advanced Division campus to be assigned to classes, leaving only the first-year Intermediate Division freshmen behind.
"Next are the class assignments. As everyone knows, at Eastsea Academy, the smaller the class number, the more outstanding the students it represents. But that is not absolute. We hope that the lower-ranked classes can also work hard to catch up. This year, there are a total of one hundred and eight new students, divided into five classes. When I call your name, step forward and enter Class One..."
"Tang Wulin, Zhou Changxi, Xie Xie, Yun Xiao, Nan Fusheng..." When Class Five was being assigned, Nan Fusheng heard his name. This did not surprise him much. Though he claimed his Martial Soul had mutated, he had merely changed its name. So far, he had not displayed anything particularly remarkable, so being assigned to Class Five was perfectly normal.
Nan Fusheng was not the only one assigned to Class Five. Wang Ba and his other two roommates were assigned there as well. After all, their Soul Power was only level eleven, and their Martial Souls were not particularly powerful. Tang Wulin, however, wore a look of surprise and delight when he heard Nan Fusheng's name.
Class Five had only twenty students, the fewest among the five classes. Most of the students assigned there looked dispirited and lacked energy.
"Each homeroom teacher, take your students back to the classroom and familiarize them with the academy."
Five teachers stepped out, and one of them walked toward Class Five.
This teacher looked to be twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old. He stood over 1.9 meters tall, with long arms and a narrow waist, his long legs clad in white pants. He looked somewhat lean, but his eyes were bright and sharp. His nose was high, his lips thin and well-shaped, and his whole person gave off an exceptionally upright impression. Long hair draped behind his head, and when the wind blew, they could vaguely see that his lake-blue hair reached all the way to his waist.
His eyes were dark green, matching his blue hair and giving him a peculiar aura. His face was expressionless, and his gaze cold.
When the Class Five students saw him, they could not help but freeze for a moment.
Then a female Class Five student exclaimed softly, "The teacher is so handsome!"
"Follow me!" The young teacher spoke only three simple words, yet every student felt a chill run through them. It was a coldness that came from the depths of their hearts. This feeling...
Wu Zhangkong, huh? As expected of a Soul Emperor who came from Shrek Academy. I wonder if I could deeply Parasitize him now?
Nan Fusheng thought about it, but after some consideration, he dismissed the suicidal idea. He should experiment on other people first.
The Class Five classroom was on the first floor, at the innermost end, making it the farthest away.
The classroom had thirty sets of desks and chairs, with the podium at the front.
"Take your seats," the young teacher said coldly. Every time he spoke, they felt the same thing: so cold!
Nan Fusheng casually chose a seat toward the back. After seeing his choice, Wang Ba and the other two instinctively chose seats beside him.
Without realizing it, Wang Ba and the other two had begun to regard Nan Fusheng as their leader. This was also one of the effects of the Worm of Time. Although Nan Fusheng had only used Shallow Parasitism on them, they still instinctively felt compelled to obey him. The three of them probably had not realized it yet.
