With the Finals about to begin, Moon had been making all sorts of preparations for Link's injury.
After another full physical examination, Link's condition delighted Moon.
Just as he had predicted, Link's rib injury had not worsened. While there certainly had not been enough time for it to heal, Link seemed to be growing increasingly accustomed to playing through the pain.
Recently, Link had been looking better and better in practice. He was nowhere near fully recovered, but he was already very close.
On the court, he grimaced less and less. Clearly, Link's pain was subsiding.
After a series of meticulous examinations and evaluations, Moon finally gave Link the green light.
"Next game, you can start, Link."
"Yes!" Link pumped his fist excitedly. It was probably the best news he had heard in days.
"But you still need to protect yourself. Don't deliberately seek out overly intense contact, and don't dunk off your injured left side. Especially against players like LeBron James—sometimes, don't try to tough it out. If the injury worsens, your season really will be over."
"Don't worry, Moon. I know how to protect myself. Thanks. I'm going back to practice." Link waved and walked out of the doctor's office.
Being able to start during the Finals undoubtedly gave Link a little more confidence in the series.
Though this year's Cavaliers had been unremarkable in the regular season, their playoff performance showed that they were no worse than the Warriors.
In the original timeline, even without Irving and Love, the Cavaliers had taken the Warriors to a 4-2 series.
And now, with both Irving and Love still on the roster, the power the Cavaliers could unleash was beyond imagination.
They had already come to the final step. Link had no intention of falling now.
A three-peat, a dynasty...
