For two straight days, good news had come out of the Grizzlies.
For Link, it meant he had already taken a small step down the most difficult path he had chosen for himself.
Of course, if simply signing Wade and Nash counted as success, then an NBA championship would be far too cheap.
But for now, Link had no time to carry out the next step of his plan.
Because he was getting married.
On July 16, Link and Rachel held their wedding in Memphis.
They rented out a small estate on the outskirts of Memphis, invited a few friends, and held the wedding quietly.
Though the wedding was low-key, nothing about it was careless.
The guest list alone was ridiculously impressive.
Naturally, every Grizzlies player attended. Randolph, Carter, Gasol, Conley... from the veterans to the youngsters, not one was absent.
The four young guys—Harrell, Richardson, Jokic, and Dinwiddie—even helped their "boss" arrange the wedding venue. The place was bustling.
Link didn't know about the others, but Jokic definitely loved the job. Link had already caught him taking advantage of the chaos to drink two bottles of cola that day—big bottles, too!
That pile of belly fat on Jokic definitely hadn't grown for nothing.
Butler, Whiteside, Dellavedova, Nick Young, Battier, and other players who had once played for the Grizzlies all showed up as well.
They might no longer have been teammates, but the bond between teammates remained.
Besides them, Link's friends Kobe, Lillard, Cousins, and others had also made a special trip to Memphis for the wedding.
Of course, Wade and Nash, the two "newcomers" who had already announced they were joining the Grizzlies, were there too.
Then there were older figures such as Pera, Joerger, Snyder, and Link's agent, Jeff Austin, who also came to offer their blessings.
