During the break between quarters, even the cheerleaders at Oracle Arena seemed a little less energetic.
Now, no one cared about the shapely women on the court anymore. Link's insane scoring performance over the first three quarters was what everyone was focused on.
"Fifty-two-point-five percent shooting, 32 points through three quarters. As long as Link is on the floor tonight, he's doing one thing: scoring! From the opening tip, Link's desire to score has been terrifyingly high. But no one expected him to keep this scoring surge going for this long."
Marc Jackson stared in disbelief. Over the past three quarters, Link had simply been a scoring machine.
They had thought tonight would be a night where Link and his teammates advanced together, but everyone else's efforts had been concentrated more on the defensive end.
Link had taken care of all the work on offense by himself.
"No one knows what will happen in the final quarter. The Warriors still have a chance, but Link's scoring run shows no sign of slowing down. As everyone knows, Link's offensive firepower in the fourth quarter is unmatched. Marc, how many points do you think Link will finish with tonight?"
"Probably 40. In the Western Conference semifinals against the Rockets, Link put up a 40-point triple-double. He might not get a triple-double tonight, since he's been so focused on scoring. But getting more than 40 points shouldn't be a problem."
Marc Jackson certainly did not expect the Warriors to contain Link in the fourth quarter. Link already had 32 points; getting another eight would be effortless for him.
On the Warriors' bench, everyone was poised and ready. They all knew that Link's scoring pace over the first three quarters had only been a warm-up at best.
