The Contract Finally Came Through-Let's Talk About the Extra Updates Everyone's Been Asking About

Finally, I got the notification this afternoon that my status had changed. The contract was signed at last. That means the battle for this book has officially begun.

No beating around the bush: first, let's talk about the update schedule. A lot of readers have complained about only getting two chapters a day, but that's temporary. Posting too many words during a new book's promotion period can hurt its chances of getting recommended. If I don't land a good recommendation before it goes on sale, that'll definitely be a loss.

But don't worry—I'm not giving up on extra updates. I can't let everyone's votes go unrewarded. I'll post all the bonus chapters in one big burst on launch day.

That's right, all at once.

At first, I told everyone I'd guarantee five chapters on launch day. Things have changed. Not five anymore—one to start. No, that's wrong. We're doubling it right off the bat: ten chapters to start.

Ten chapters guaranteed on launch day. Then, for every 5,000 recommendation votes, I'll add one chapter. So far, the book has 6,824 votes, which means one extra chapter. Ten plus one means we're already at eleven chapters on launch day. There's no cap on bonus chapters from votes. I'll add one for every 5,000 votes the book has by launch day. For example, if there are 20,000 votes, I'll add four chapters on top of the ten guaranteed.

Now that I've signed the contract, readers can also send rewards. For every 10,000 starting coins in rewards, I'll add one chapter on launch day. This isn't counted per person, but by combining rewards from all readers. So far, I've received 2,600 coins. (A special thanks to Qi Yu Gong Cun, Hu Tu Lao Me, and Guang Xiang Shi Jie for sending rewards so quickly!) Once the total reaches 10,000, I'll add a chapter. These stack with the vote-based bonuses, and there's no upper limit on those either.

For example, if there are 20,000 recommendation votes and 20,000 coins in rewards on launch day, that's four plus two, for six extra chapters. Add those to the ten guaranteed, and that makes sixteen chapters on launch day.

So, will launch day have twenty chapters? Thirty? Fifty? I'm good with any of those—it all depends on how much support you show! From now on, whenever I post two chapters in a day, I'll tally the numbers, calculate the day's update count, and announce it in the author's note at the end of the chapter. I won't go back on my word.
