Link had just woken up in the enormous bed of a five-star hotel when he spotted the snow-covered city of Toronto outside the window.
Before crossing over, Link had been a southerner and hadn't seen snow very often. And certainly not a blizzard like this, blanketing an entire city.
But the snowy view outside didn't excite Link. If anything, it made him feel even more tired. Winter always made people feel lazy. And seeing the pedestrians bundled up in thick coats made Link shiver.
Tony Allen, who was sharing a room with Link, was still asleep. The Grizzlies had played an away game just the night before, then stayed up late to catch a flight. It was only natural that they were exhausted and wanted to sleep in.
Link got up and wandered around the room. All things considered, this was only his second time staying at a five-star hotel. The Blue Team had always stayed in motels on the road, and before that, he hadn't even had the money to afford a five-star hotel.
Then he noticed a newspaper had been slipped under the door. Curious, he picked it up and took a look.
It was true that, back in 2010, online news wasn't nearly as widespread as it would be in 2019. The print media industry hadn't yet been hit as hard as it would be then, either.
Phones could show the news, but the experience was still terrible. So newspapers remained the main way people kept up with the day's events.
Link casually flipped through the paper. Most of the stories didn't interest him, but when he reached the sports section, he was stunned.
