"You're insane. You're fucking insane!"
Raymond Brothers was a well-known agent in professional sports. Both he and his brother were active in the sports management world. Though the "Brothers brothers" name was not as famous as Bill Duffy or Jeff Austin, it still carried considerable weight.
And now, this renowned agent was cursing Zach Randolph out right in front of him. He paced back and forth anxiously, utterly frazzled.
As for Randolph? The man who was about to get married sat on the couch with a relaxed expression, forming a stark contrast with the frantic Brothers.
"Do you know what you're doing? Do you know how much you could make next season? Do you know?" Brothers stopped and spread his arms at Randolph.
"Sixteen and a half million next season." Randolph shrugged.
"Thank God, you actually remember! Then tell me, why do you want to opt out of the final year of a contract worth $16.5 million a year just to sign some two-year, $20 million deal with the Grizzlies? An average of $10 million a year! Does that $6.5 million not smell sweet enough to you?"
"What's the big deal? I'm already thirty-three. If I finish that final year at $16.5 million, who knows whether my next contract will even reach $10 million? If I sign a two-year, $20 million deal now, I can still be making eight figures at thirty-five. No matter how you look at it, I'm not losing out." Randolph broke into a wide grin.
"That's complete bullshit! Don't think I don't know what you're thinking, Zach. You're taking a pay cut because you want the Grizzlies to be able to bring in Iguodala smoothly! Am I wrong?"
This time, facing Brothers's roar, Randolph said nothing. He looked like a child whose lie had been exposed.
