Link stood at the free-throw line like a grim reaper wielding a scythe.
All of Oakland was stunned. They could hardly believe that a 21-point gap had been erased just like that. Nor could they believe that, even with Klay Thompson putting on a godlike performance, the Grizzlies had still fought stubbornly to this point.
Even harder to imagine was that less than a minute ago, Klay Thompson, with 49 points, had been the game's leading scorer. But now, just a few dozen seconds later, he no longer was.
"Link has scored eight straight points, bringing his total for the game to 50 and surpassing Klay Thompson! This is the second time this season that Link has scored more than 50 points in a single game! And he still has a free throw coming, so his total will keep rising!"
Marc Jackson felt his scalp tingle. Just moments ago, when Klay Thompson hit that crucial three, Marc Jackson had been certain the Warriors would win.
At the time, no one had expected Link to hit a three over Green's defense. No one had expected him to steal the ball with that unbelievable "save" of a move, then toy with Green and Bogut in succession to earn a chance at a three-point play.
Bogut was deeply frustrated. Ever since Link had brutally dunked over him earlier today, he had been holding in a fire.
And even now, he had yet to let that fire out.
Throughout the entire game, Bogut had not managed a single successful defensive stop against Link.
Then, in the final critical moment, he had handed Link a three-point-play opportunity.
Bogut blamed himself deeply, and he hated Link just as much.
If not for that number zero, this would have been a perfect game...
