Wilson said expressionlessly:
"So?"
The consultant said:
"The team's recommendation is that we don't pressure him too hard for now. Let him relax on his own, and in no more than ten minutes, his injuries will worsen to the point that he can't hold on and passes out. Then capturing him alive will be easy."
Wilson nodded, then spoke into the microphone in front of him:
"Drone, enter tracking mode. Do not attack for now. Hold off on activating Cleaner II."
At Wilson's command, Fang finally got a chance to catch his breath. He panted heavily, his eyes bloodshot.
But soon, Fang floored the accelerator of the truck he was driving.
Once the truck had reached a certain speed, Fang suddenly broke into a ferocious grin and tossed something out the window.
It looked like a silvery-white ball about the size of a ping-pong ball. But after flying just over ten meters, it suddenly exploded!
The Typhoon electromagnetic pulse bomb!
In an instant, an incredibly powerful electromagnetic pulse surged out in every direction. Every electronic device within nearly twenty square kilometers was severely disrupted and shut down.
Numerous devices overheated and burned out, and every drone in the sky went out of control. They whirled around like headless flies, then exploded one after another!
Not only that, even the satellite's sensors detected that the entire area had been shrouded in a hazy blur.
This device was a product of another world, an absolute technological advantage that crushed anything in its path! It was often used in interstellar warfare to blanket an area and disrupt enemy fleet communications!
Anmoreya Corporation's technological development was focused on biochemistry, so its expertise in electronic information technology was mediocre at best. Faced with Fang's electromagnetic pulse bomb, it was utterly helpless, suffering staggering losses in an instant.
Not only had the command vehicle lost its signal, even cell phones couldn't get through.
Worse still, the control chip inside the monster Cleaner II had burned out, severing all contact with it. The monster was now completely unrestricted and utterly out of control.
Driven purely by instinct, if it got enough flesh to feed on, it would eventually grow into a monster capable of destroying an entire city!
So now, Anmoreya Corporation had to immediately shift its focus to restraining Cleaner II.
Otherwise, if this incident spiraled out of control, the entire corporation would find itself in a difficult position. If it drew the attention of the national government, the company could become a target of public outrage. After all, it still wasn't strong enough to take on the government.
After using his trump card to give his enemy a nasty surprise, Fang suddenly wrenched the steering wheel around! The truck roared as it smashed through the guardrail beside the road, then plunged diagonally into the raging river, sending up a huge spray of water and debris!
Before hitting the water, Fang had already opened the driver's door, then leaped straight into the river.
As soon as he entered the water, he activated his own voodoo magic: Murloc Soul. It worked by feeding his own vital essence and flesh to the Murloc Soul, which devoured them and granted him its power for a short time.
This was a typical form of black magic: first you made a sacrifice, then you reaped the reward.
Under ordinary circumstances, Fang could cast this spell with ease. But now, he was nearly completely spent, and the flesh and vital essence the Murloc Soul absorbed truly cost him half his life.
Fortunately, the abilities the Murloc Soul bestowed on Fang were exactly what he needed: underwater breathing and murloc instincts. He sped through the water like a torpedo, a stream of bubbles trailing behind him as black light coiled around his body.
Anyone who witnessed it would have been amazed, thinking he was a fish rather than a man.
But good times never lasted long. The Murloc Soul's blessing was strictly transactional: it gave him power for exactly as long as it took to consume his flesh and vital essence. No more, no less.
Given Fang's nearly exhausted state, how much flesh and vital essence could he—or would he dare—let the Murloc Soul consume?
So after no more than two minutes, Fang surfaced and began searching for a place to get ashore. That was when he spotted a cargo ship moving slowly in the middle of the river.
Fang was overjoyed. He knew how powerful the Typhoon electromagnetic pulse bomb was. It would ensure that his pursuers' communications stayed down for at least two or three hours.
If he got aboard, he could tend to his injuries and commandeer the ship to make a fast getaway. It was the best of both worlds.
After climbing aboard, Fang headed straight for the wheelhouse. Sure enough, a middle-aged man was sitting there with his legs crossed, playing on his phone. When he saw Fang appear, looking fierce and missing an arm, his body covered in crisscrossing wounds that had turned pale from soaking in the water, he was startled. He was about to speak when Fang rushed over and knocked him unconscious with a knee to the chest.
Fang then made a quick search of the ship. When he found no one else besides the middle-aged man, he returned to the wheelhouse, turned the speed up to maximum, and set off in a particular direction.
Since the ship was on autopilot, Fang only had to glance ahead now and then to adjust its course. He turned his attention to treating his wounds, especially the parasites on his face. They were like burdock stuck to his skin, impossible to remove, and they were seriously affecting his vision.
But to Fang, this wasn't much of a problem. The parasites were under control and wouldn't kill him in the short term. He only had to make it through the time limit for his mission.
Next, Fang started looking around for something. What was he looking for? As soon as he'd entered the wheelhouse, he'd caught the faint aroma of coffee, and now he was craving a steaming cup.
It didn't take long to find an electric kettle, a packet of Nescafé instant coffee, and a coffee cup that had been used not long ago. The coffee smell was coming from the cup, and the kettle was still more than half full of boiled water.
There was no need to say more. Fang boiled some water and made himself a cup of hot coffee.
But he still wanted more. There was an empty liquor bottle on the table beside him, so Fang searched around and found three small bottles of Red Star Erguotou in a locked drawer, along with a bag of cream-filled bread on a shelf.
It was perfectly normal to find those things here. Fang knew that it was windy and damp on the river, and the crew had to work night shifts. It would have been strange if they hadn't brought strong liquor aboard.
The bread was common too. It was probably there for a snack when someone got hungry.
Seeing nothing suspicious, Fang eagerly poured half a bottle of Red Star Erguotou into his hot coffee, added three packets of creamer, then squeezed the cream out of the bread and added that to his coffee as well.
This was a very popular drink in Fang's hometown: hot coffee with Irish whiskey and sugar, topped with a thick layer of cream. The locals called it a "Brown Bomb," because drinking it felt like an explosion in your throat.
If you were hungry, you could have it with a croissant filled with pickles and bacon.
After preparing this decidedly inauthentic "Brown Bomb," Fang eagerly took a big gulp. As he felt the scalding coffee flow down his throat, he felt as if he'd come back to life.
Fang let out a contented sigh and sank into the chair beside him, closing his eyes to savor the ache that coursed through his body.
This was the powerful passive Regeneration talent that came with his orc bloodline. As long as he wasn't decapitated or cut in half, the talent could stabilize his injuries and even heal them little by little on its own. The more severe the injury, the stronger the recovery.
Fang was exhausted and hungry, and he was also in a state of extreme weakness after ending his transformation. So he cheerfully made himself two more "Brown Bombs," then finished the bag of bread beside him. But after drinking for a while, Fang gradually grew unbearably drowsy, his eyelids drooping.
Fang already sensed something was wrong. He kept screaming in his mind that he couldn't fall asleep, couldn't fall asleep, but the drowsiness was like a tenacious parasite, circling in his mind and relentlessly taking hold.
In the end, Fang couldn't fight off the overwhelming sleepiness and passed out. A moment later, loud snores filled the room.
The entire scene had been captured by a hidden camera nearby and faithfully relayed to a screen at the other end.
Ten minutes later, a slender figure appeared in the doorway. It was none other than Fang Linyan!
In his hands was a strange machine resembling a leaf blower. It looked quite heavy, and even he struggled to hold it. Then Fang Linyan slowly approached Fang, who was slumped in the chair nearby, and suddenly pressed the switch.
A grayish beam of light, about forty or fifty centimeters long, appeared at the machine's nozzle.
Fang Linyan swung it downward,
and Fang's head flew straight into the air!!
There were many coincidences in the world, but Fang being badly injured, randomly boarding a ship, falling asleep, and then happening to run into Fang Linyan absolutely wasn't one of them.
Behind it all lay meticulous planning, a great deal of investigation, and, of course, a little luck.
To make sense of how all these events connected, we have to start from the beginning.
