Qiantang was the largest river within Yue Kingdom. In terms of renown alone, it rivaled Chu Kingdom's Cloud Dream Marsh.
If the mist-shrouded, boundless Cloud Dream Marsh were a goddess too distant to reach, then the Qiantang River would be a brawny man beating a drum and singing, roaring and shouting amid wind and storm.
Perhaps the robust soul beneath the Yue people's delicate exterior sprang from here.
When Gao Zheng forged the covenant of the Fallen Immortal Alliance, he had once modestly said, "Yue Kingdom has nothing, save for Qiantang."
Though it was a humble remark, it roughly showed the Qiantang River's place in Yue Kingdom.
That was why Zhou Sixun, the Grand Commander who commanded the Qiantang Navy, was Yue Kingdom's true foremost military figure, ranked officially even above Bian Liang, foremost champion of the Yue Armor.
Before his death, Gao Zheng had specifically composed a melody for the Qiantang River. The most famous of them was none other than "A Lone Boat Entrusts a Letter." Ji Li of Evening Drum Academy included it in Thousand Autumns of Music, which she had compiled in recent years, and rated it "the foremost Yue melody."
Some time ago, the Yue court built a tomb for Gao Zheng. Emperor Wen Jingxiu personally supported the coffin, and all the civil and military officials went to pay their respects. Beyond the cemetery, wreaths formed a sea... mourners had yet to cease arriving even now.
On the day Gao Zheng's coffin was lowered, more than three thousand scholars gathered of their own accord by the Qiantang River and played this piece together atop its embankment. When the melody ended, many wailed in grief. Gao Zheng's feelings for the Qiantang River, his attachment to this land of Yue Kingdom, leaped across every string.
