He did not know exactly how long he had slept. Counting one sunset and moonrise as a day, twenty-eight or thirty-one sunsets as a month, and twelve months as a year, then the time had been one hundred and five years—
As for why time was counted this way, why it was measured in "years and months," He did not know.
On the day the Divine Firmament World opened, it would be bathed in sun and moon, but before then, He had never seen such things. Beyond the world lay Chaos upon Chaos.
All "awareness" was "Heaven-bestowed."
His inborn form, His inborn strength, His inborn sensations...
He was the strongest being in this world, the first god to cleave open Heaven and Earth. It was only right that He receive all reverence—and bear the duty of guarding this world.
He had slept from the moment of His birth. Sleep was so that He could better feel this world. The process of sleeping was the process of growing alongside the world.
And so He had always been feeling this world... though He was in a dream.
Mountains and Rivers ran through His sinews. Grasses, trees, and all living things lived in His palm.
With a turn of His hand, He could change this world.
Of course, He thought as well. In His most primitive awareness, He considered how He ought to construct laws, guide all living beings, and elevate this world.
Or perhaps He could govern by doing nothing—after all, no matter how those little things cavorted, they could not shake this world. And all nourishment created by their activities would remain within it.
