Heroic Deeds, Summary and Reflections

Volume Four was one I was personally very satisfied with.

"From ancient times to the present, heroes rise. Who beneath their seats is not a true man?"

When I first wrote that line of poetry, I couldn't picture a scene to go with it. None of the scenes in the films, TV shows, or novels I'd seen seemed to fit perfectly.

When I began planning the entirety of Volume Four of Red Heart Patrolling the Heavens and chose Heroic Deeds as its title, I wanted to write that scene.

And so Yin Guan trampled a rugged path into a road that reached the heavens, attaining Divine Presence before God of Constables Yue Leng.

Guanyan saw the Bliss Flower, yet would never become a Buddha in this life.

Xiang Qian's sword cleaved through the path between life and death. "Who in this world is worthy of making me turn back?"

Zhang Linchuan founded the Non-Life Sect, while Miao Yu brought the Three-Part Fragrance Pavilion under one banner.

And so Zhuang Gaoxian and Du Ruhui plotted for years, then fought with the whole kingdom at stake. Du Yehu planted his banner at Suolong Pass, repaying a century of humiliation.

Han Xu endured in silence for a hundred years, asked a True Person to die, seized power, reformed the government, and became the Mo Sect's only representative in the Present World.

Lin Zhengren sacrificed his entire family to secure his future, then schemed against Zhu Weiwu.

Zhu Weiwu fought to the death to repay the kindness of being raised, then betrayed his country to avenge the slaughter of his city.

And Dong A fought to the death...

Li Jianqiu could not save both his family and his country, while Fu Baosong held fast to himself and to the Way.

Ye Xiaohua set his
