Deep within the cave.
When Lin Feng arrived, he saw a scene of carnage.
Over twenty people were crammed into a natural rock depression.
The entrance to the depression was narrow, barely wide enough for two people to stand side by side—it was their only barrier.
Four people stood at the entrance, their weapons long since blunted, their combat suits full of holes, blood seeping from various wounds.
Before them, over a dozen massive Exotic Beasts were launching an assault.
Dark-Scaled Giant Lizards, C-Rank.
Each was eight or nine meters long, covered in hard, dark scales, their claws twice the size of a human palm.
Martial Ancestor-level Exotic Beasts.
Among the four guarding the entrance, the strongest was only a second-stage Martial Master; the remaining three were all peak Martial Artists.
With the strength of Martial Artists and low-tier Martial Masters, they were holding off a siege of C-Rank Exotic Beasts.
They were relying purely on the terrain to hold on.
But they wouldn't last much longer.
The leading Martial Master, second-stage, had his left arm dangling—clearly broken.
He wielded his sword with one hand, each block against the giant lizard's claw strikes sending him sliding backward.
Inside the depression, Lin Feng swept his gaze across.
There were wounded veterans, pale-faced young Martial Artists, and several people who were clearly dressed as civilians.
In the farthest corner, a thin figure huddled against the rock wall, his arm wrapped in torn cloth strips as bandages, his face covered in dried blood.
Li Ming.
Alive.
Lin Feng's heart settled.
The person was found.
Now it was time to get down to business.
"Move aside, those in the back."
Lin Feng's voice wasn't loud, but in the chaos, everyone heard it.
The four guarding the entrance turned to look.
A stranger, a young man carrying a dark-gold longblade, was walking unhurriedly toward them.
"Who the hell are you? Get in here! Don't stand out there."
The second-stage Martial Master burly man hadn't finished speaking.
Lin Feng walked right past him.
He stepped out of the depression's entrance.
He walked into the middle of the Exotic Beast pack.
"Has he lost his mind?"
The burly man blurted out.
Lin Feng didn't look back.
The first Dark-Scaled Giant Lizard lunged at him, its massive maw wide open, a stench of blood rushing toward his face.
Mountain Splitter held level.
One slash.
The giant lizard's head split clean in two from the center, brains and blood spraying across his face.
The corpse kept charging forward, sliding past him on both sides, slamming into the rock wall behind him with a boom.

[Steel of the Blade: 282/500]
Everyone froze.
One slash?
A C-Rank Exotic Beast, taken down in one slash?
Lin Feng gave no one time to react.
Lost Trace Step activated, his form splitting into three afterimages in the cavern.
His true body had already charged into the center of the lizard pack.
The second giant lizard spun around, tail sweeping.
Lin Feng ducked low, the tail sweeping just over his head as he smoothly drove his blade into the giant lizard's belly.
Penetration effect fully active, the blade entered through the belly armor and exited from the back armor.
The giant lizard let out a miserable shriek, its limbs splaying out as it crashed to the ground.

[Steel of the Blade: 283/500]
The third and fourth came at him simultaneously from both sides.
Lin Feng didn't dodge.
Mountain-Breaking Slash charged for half a second.
A golden gale tore across the ground, an arc-shaped energy wave sweeping through.
The penetration effect allowed the gale to pass through the third giant lizard without any loss, continuing onward to pierce the fourth.
Both giant lizards fell at the same time.

[Steel of the Blade: 285/500]
Four giant lizards, dead in under ten seconds.
The air in the cavern seemed to have been sucked away.
More than twenty trapped people, all with mouths wide open, unable to utter a single word.
The burly Martial Master Second Realm man guarding the entrance let his blade fall to the ground without even noticing.
He had spent six years in the Northern Territory.
In those six years, he had seen plenty of experts.
But he had never seen anyone pull off such a one-sided slaughter against C-Rank Exotic Beasts.
Lin Feng sheathed his blade and turned back to glance into the depression.
"Anyone else injured? Can you walk?"
The burly man was the first to snap out of it and quickly replied.
"Fifteen can walk, seven are too badly hurt to move, and two of them are already unconscious."
"Bring everyone along and follow me."
The burly man hesitated.
"Follow you? Where to?"
"Out."
"Outside... outside is full of C-Rank Exotic Beasts. Just in this area alone, we ran into over thirty, and only a dozen or so surrounded us earlier."
Lin Feng slung Mountain Splitter over his shoulder.
"Over thirty?"
He turned and headed deeper into the cavern.
"Then we'll fight our way out."
