I'm freaking out. To be fair, going premium is a good thing, but my company has stuff going on too. Did everything really have to happen at once?

I hit 150,000 words today, and my editor told me I'd be going premium tomorrow... I only saw the message after work! I was completely stunned...

I thought they'd wait until 200,000 words and give me a pity launch or something. I never expected to go premium at 150,000. Damn, I really didn't see this coming.

Whether the book does well or not is another matter. Authors usually post a ton of extra chapters after going premium, but I can't do that because of work.

I suppose there's no reason I can't talk about it. It's nothing I need to hide. The company I work for is a PCB manufacturer. We make circuit boards, but only the boards themselves—we don't do surface mounting for IC components. That makes orders harder to come by in the first place. And unlike big-name manufacturers in the industry like Jingwang, Shennan, and Shengyi, which have several freaking factories, our factory occupies one or two floors in each of three buildings in an industrial park, and those buildings are scattered across the park.

Why not put everything in one building? Because of environmental regulations. The different processes have to be kept separate.

Anyway, that's not important. The difference between our factory and a company like Jialichuang, which mainly makes low- and mid-range boards, is that we can also make some high-end boards—though not the really high-end stuff.

My customer's board is an eight-layer board with blind and buried vias. It's considered mid-to-high-end, and the manufacturing process is pretty complicated.
