The difference was that, unlike Explosive Tags, which became a continuous bombardment the moment they started exploding, the drones could stop self-destructing after they forced Ōtsutsuki Isshiki to flee into another dimension.

Then, once Ōtsutsuki Isshiki could no longer hold back and poked his head out, they could resume the self-destruction immediately.

In theory, if Ōtsutsuki Isshiki fled from point A into another dimension and could emerge from point B, then this suicide-drone attack would be practically useless.
