Background / History

Cedric meets Wentworth Grindelwald at Platform 9¾ before Wentworth's first year. Introduced as an accomplished Hogwarts student, he is described by his father Amos as having earned an “O” in every subject during his first year. Amos asks him to look after Wentworth, and Cedric soon becomes Wentworth's close friend on the Hogwarts Express. 11 12

As a Hufflepuff, Cedric guides Wentworth around Hogwarts, helps him settle in, and shares meals and time in the Hufflepuff common room with him. His friendship with Wentworth becomes especially close despite Cedric initially being unaware of Wentworth's Grindelwald heritage. 18 19 129

When Amos is endangered during the conflict in London, Cedric leaves Hogwarts to help him. Rosier, posing as Professor Ilona, reveals that Wentworth leads the Acolytes and forces Cedric to choose between joining them or risking his own life and the lives at stake in London. Cedric later admits his Acolyte membership to Dumbledore, who does not punish him so long as he has committed no crimes.
