Yun Yun looked at Xiao Ding and Xiao Li blocking her path, her thoughts racing.
She needed to confirm one thing: were these two truly Dou Emperors?
Aura could be faked, but a strike could not deceive anyone.
"Since you insist on protecting Xiao Yan, then let this Sect Master see what capabilities you possess."
As soon as Yun Yun's voice fell, her figure darted out, a palm strike aimed directly at Xiao Li.
The speed of a peak Dou Emperor was astonishingly fast.
Xiao Li's expression shifted as he dodged to the side; the palm wind grazed his shoulder, whistling past to crack the wall behind him.
Xiao Ding struck simultaneously, sending a palm toward Yun Yun.
Yun Yun countered with a backhand, meeting Xiao Ding's palm.
"Bang."
A muffled sound echoed.
Xiao Ding retreated three steps before steadying his stance.
Yun Yun remained motionless, but her expression changed.
She had used seventy percent of her strength in that strike, and by her estimation, anyone below a one-star Dou Emperor would not have been able to withstand it.
Yet, Xiao Ding had not only withstood it but had only been pushed back three steps.
So they really are Dou Emperors, Yun Yun muttered to herself.
Although only one-star, they were undeniably Dou Emperors.
Two young masters of the Xiao Clan were both Dou Emperors—how could this be? It far exceeded Yun Yun's initial predictions.
How could a place like the Xiao Clan in Wutan City cultivate two Dou Emperor powerhouses? Even a one-star Dou Emperor was an incredibly formidable existence.
Nalan Yanran stood to the side, her eyes wide, unable to believe what she was seeing.
When Xiao Ding and Xiao Li were in Wutan City, they were mere nobodies; yet, after a few years, they had become Dou Emperor powerhouses.
"Teacher, this is impossible—" Nalan Yanran could not help but speak up.
Yun Yun ignored her, keeping her gaze fixed on Xiao Ding and Xiao Li.
"How did you achieve this?"
Xiao Li wiped the corner of his mouth and said indifferently, "Does that have anything to do with you?"
"I am merely curious. The Xiao Clan is but a small family; it is impossible for them to cultivate Dou Emperors."
"Who said the Xiao Clan cultivated us?"
Yun Yun frowned. "Then who was it?"
Xiao Li smiled. "My third brother. Is that not allowed?"
At this point, Xiao Li coldly mocked Nalan Yanran, "Some people are short-sighted and look down on my third brother; it is truly laughable."
Yun Yun was stunned.
"You mean Xiao Yan? Xiao Yan helped you reach the strength of a Dou Emperor?"
"What else? My third brother refined medicinal pills for us; after consuming them, we broke through directly to the Dou Emperor realm. How about that?"
A stormy sea surged within Yun Yun's heart.
Medicinal pills—pills that could directly break through to the Dou Emperor realm—must be at least Tier 7.
Xiao Yan was a Tier 7 alchemist? A fifteen-year-old Tier 7 alchemist? This was impossible, absolutely impossible.
In the entire Dou Qi Continent, there was not a single person who had reached the level of a Tier 7 alchemist at fifteen.
"You are lying."
"Believe it or not, that is up to you."
Nalan Yanran stepped forward, her eyes filled with mockery.
"That trash Xiao Yan is capable of refining Tier 7 pills? If you want to lie to people, at least make up a believable story."
Xiao Li looked at her without saying a word.
"Xiao Yan was a genius once, that's true, but what happened later? In three years, he became a piece of trash with only three stages of Dou Disciple. How could such a person be a Tier 7 alchemist? Stop trying to bluff us here."
Xiao Ding said calmly, "Whether you believe it or not is your business; we have no need to explain ourselves to you."
Nalan Yanran gritted her teeth. "Do not meddle in other people's business. Xiao Yan killed an elder of my Misty Cloud Sect and challenged the dignity of the Misty Cloud Sect. If you continue to protect him, the Misty Cloud Sect will not let you off, and you will not have a good end."
"If you want to take our third brother away, step over our corpses first. Why so much nonsense?"
Nalan Yanran's expression changed. "You!"
"Enough." Yun Yun interrupted her.
Nalan Yanran unwillingly shut her mouth.
Yun Yun looked at Xiao Ding and Xiao Li, remaining silent for a moment.
"Since you refuse to hand over Xiao Yan, this Sect Master will have to find him myself."
Dou Qi surged within her body as she struck out with a palm; this time, she did not hold back.
The full-force strike of a three-star Dou Emperor was astonishing in its momentum.
Xiao Ding and Xiao Li dared not be careless, joining forces to block the attack.
"Bang."
Following the thunderous sound, all three retreated simultaneously.
Blood trickled from the corners of both Xiao Ding and Xiao Li's mouths.
Yun Yun did not fare much better, her arm trembling slightly.
She had not expected that two one-star Dou Emperors working together could actually injure her.
"Again," Xiao Li said, gritting his teeth.
The two attacked simultaneously, charging at Yun Yun from the left and right.
Yun Yun did not retreat but advanced instead, striking out with palm after palm.
The figures of the three intertwined within the hall, the sound of clashing Dou Qi ringing out incessantly.
Walls were cracked and tables and chairs were overturned, leaving the entire hall in a state of disarray.
Nalan Yanran retreated to a corner, her face pale; she could not intervene in a battle at the Dou Emperor level at all.
"Bang."
With another loud crash, the three separated.
A trace of blood also spilled from the corner of Yun Yun's mouth.
Xiao Ding and Xiao Li were more severely injured, covered in blood, yet they remained standing.
"Big Brother, are you still holding up?" Xiao Li panted.
"I won't die."
Yun Yun looked at the two, shock filling her heart.
Two one-star Dou Emperors were actually able to push her to this extent.
"You—"
Just as Yun Yun was about to speak, a voice came from the distance.
"Big Brother, Second Brother."
Xiao Ding and Xiao Li raised their heads at the same time, excitement flashing in their eyes; they were far too familiar with that voice.
"Third Brother is back."
Xiao Ding nodded forcefully, murmuring to himself; Third Brother is back, so he must have obtained the Heavenly Flame.
Two figures walked toward them from the distance.
Xiao Yan walked in front with Qing Lin following behind him; the two crossed the street and headed toward the gates of the Desert Iron Mercenary Group.
Xiao Yan's expression was calm, revealing no emotion, while Qing Lin followed behind him with light, quick steps.
Upon reaching the entrance, Xiao Yan stopped in his tracks, taking in the situation inside the hall.
The ruined floor, the shattered walls, and the blood-covered Xiao Ding and Xiao Li.
Xiao Yan's expression darkened, his gaze passing over Xiao Ding and Xiao Li to land on Yun Yun and Nalan Yanran.
Nalan Yanran also saw Xiao Yan, her eyes filled with hostility; that hatred seemed ready to spill out from her gaze.
"Xiao Yan," Nalan Yanran spat out the two words through gritted teeth.
Xiao Yan ignored her, looking instead at Xiao Ding and Xiao Li.
"Big Brother, Second Brother, are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
"Just superficial wounds."
Xiao Yan nodded and turned his head to look at Yun Yun.
Yun Yun looked at him as well.
This was Xiao Yan, the very Xiao Yan who had killed Ge Ye, the Fourth Elder, and Yun Leng.
He looked like nothing more than a fifteen or sixteen-year-old youth, yet those eyes were terrifyingly calm.
"You are Xiao Yan?"
"Yes."
"I am the Misty Cloud Sect Master, Yun Yun."
Xiao Yan looked at her, his face devoid of any expression.
"People of the Misty Cloud Sect, what are you doing here?"
"There is no need to play dumb here. I came here naturally to have you give our Misty Cloud Sect an explanation. You killed three of our Misty Cloud Sect elders; everyone in our Misty Cloud Sect requires an account and an explanation."
Xiao Yan said indifferently, "An explanation? What kind of explanation do you want?"
Seeing his cold and detached demeanor, Nalan Yanran, who stood to the side, furrowed her brows tightly.
