Death-Level Mission

Su Zhe hadn't expected the Universe Mercenary Alliance's promotion requirements to be written right in the email.

But it seemed reasonable enough.

At the Virtual Universe Company, Hong and Thunder God, who had mastered a Domain at the Planetary Level, as well as Luo Feng, who hadn't mastered one, could all be invited to join as elite members. The Universe Mercenary Alliance was a much more mixed bag, so its requirements were bound to be simpler.

Su Zhe wasn't in a hurry to look through the Universe Mercenary Alliance's missions.

The first thing he needed to do was deal with the weapons and equipment he'd obtained in Thunder World.

Canglan Star was also one of the top hundred planets in the Black Dragon Mountain Empire.

The things Su Zhe had obtained were hardly worth much here, so it didn't take long to sell them all.

After finding a shop that bought weapons, Su Zhe sold everything he had, including the ferocious beast materials. In the end, he walked away with over 21 billion Black Dragon Coins!

That was still nowhere near the first sum of money Luo Feng had received from Hu Yanbo's account at the Star Level.

But Su Zhe had earned this money himself, and the process had been grueling.

Now that he had this much capital, Su Zhe could finally continue to improve his strength.

But before breaking through to the Universe Level,

Su Zhe planned to see what missions the Universe Mercenary Alliance had to offer.

Once he reached the Universe Level, he would have to take the One-star Mercenary examination. After that, he wouldn't be able to accept Apprentice Mercenary missions anymore, and might miss out on some treasures restricted to Star Levels.

Su Zhe brought up the Universe Mercenary Alliance's mission system.

The Universe Mercenary Alliance's mission system had four ranks: Apprentice, One-star, Two-star, and Three-star.

These corresponded to Apprentice Mercenaries, One-star Mercenaries, Two-star Mercenaries, and Three-star Mercenaries.

Missions of the same rank were further divided by difficulty into five levels: Safe, Difficult, Dangerous, Extremely Dangerous, and Death.

The higher the difficulty, the higher the mortality rate. At the Death Level, it was nearly 95 percent or higher.

Keep in mind that those who dared to take Death-Level missions were all extremely confident in their abilities. Many were geniuses who had mastered a Domain at the Star Level, and even they faced such an absurdly high mortality rate. That alone said plenty.

Su Zhe, of course, chose a Death-Level mission.

There weren't many Death-Level missions in the Black Dragon Mountain Star Sector. There were only three.

Of course, some missions had no limit on the number of participants or the time allowed. Whoever completed the mission first could claim the reward. There was no delay fee for failing one of these.

Su Zhe ignored the risk and continued browsing.

Perhaps because he was at the Star Level,

only one of the three Death-Level missions required entering a secret realm. The other two were an assassination mission and a protection mission.

None of the three Death-Level missions would be easy.

The first mission involved assassinating a prince of the Black Dragon Mountain Empire, yet the reward wasn't particularly high. And since it was listed as an Apprentice-level mission, Su Zhe couldn't help suspecting that the Black Dragon Mountain Empire had put it out as bait.

Under normal circumstances, assassinating a prince within the Black Dragon Mountain Empire would require at least Domain Lord or World Master strength. Even a World Master would be unlikely to risk being hunted by the Black Dragon Mountain Empire just to assassinate a prince.

Only Domain Lords with no fixed abode might take that risk.

But 100 million Ganwu Coins wasn't a particularly large sum even for someone at the Universe Level, let alone a Domain Lord.

Su Zhe shook his head slightly and ignored the mission.

Of the remaining two, the protection mission wasn't an easy job either.

He opened the mission details.

[Mission]: Protect Asa, the Seventh Prince of the Guangyuan Empire.

[Details]: Asa, the Seventh Prince of the Guangyuan Empire, is about to take part in the empire's unique succession trial. Protect him for 1,000 years, or until he breaks through to the Universe Level, to complete the mission. Asa will cover all daily expenses during the mission. People sent by other princes will attempt to assassinate him. (According to imperial rules, only Star Levels are permitted, but the possibility of Universe Levels appearing cannot be ruled out.)

[Commission]: 10 billion Black Dragon Coins.

The mission looked manageable, but it involved a succession struggle. Even though the Guangyuan Empire was only a low-level cosmic civilization within the Black Dragon Mountain Star Sector, with a World Master as its strongest fighter, the bloodshed behind the scenes was still easy to imagine.

Su Zhe didn't want to get involved in something like that. Besides, 1,000 years was far too long. It would be a complete waste of time.

Su Zhe turned his attention to the final mission.

[Mission]: Explore the Lava Secret Realm and obtain Fire Marrow Crystal ore.

[Details]: The Lava Secret Realm is a small secret realm in the Black Dragon Mountain Star Sector. It contains only one kind of ferocious beast, known as the Lava Monster. Lava Monsters produce and collect a type of ore unique to the realm, called Fire Marrow Crystal. Collect 10 units of Fire Marrow Crystal ore to complete the mission. Any extra ore can be sold back to the Universe Mercenary Alliance for 150 million Black Dragon Coins per unit.

[Commission]: No base commission. Complete the mission to receive 1.5 billion Black Dragon Coins.

Lava Monsters in the Lava Secret Realm reached the Star Level upon reaching adulthood. They were powerful individually and liked to live in groups, and there were quite a few Universe-Level Lava Monsters as well.

Collecting Fire Marrow Crystal meant dealing with the Lava Monsters. He might even have to break into their nests to steal or seize the ore.

The Universe-Level Lava Monsters he might encounter along the way were the greatest danger.

The Lava Secret Realm mission had no time limit or delay fee. It had been posted directly by the Black Dragon Mountain Empire branch of the Universe Mercenary Alliance.

Su Zhe accepted the mission and received the coordinates of the Lava Secret Realm and permission to enter.
