Background / History

Saint Childers was a Celestial Dragon whose lifestyle included keeping numerous women as “wives.” By the time he reached Batia Island, he referred to Lia as his prospective eighteenth wife, while his seventeenth wife remained imprisoned and abused aboard his ship. 28 34

While traveling in the North Blue, Childers’ official ship was attacked by Byrnndi World and subsequently wrecked in a storm. He drifted to Batia Island with most of his guards dead, leaving him dependent on local Marines and the CP agents who later arrived to escort him. 22 27 32

Saint Childers presented himself in the extravagant fashion of a World Noble, wearing clothing and accessories intended to separate him from ordinary people.

After being shipwrecked, Childers’ arrival prompted Batia Island’s government to renovate the city, erect a welcome arch, and deploy security forces to accommodate him. 24

He dismissed Momonga and the North Blue Marines as inferior guards, then became interested in Gion before fixating on Lia, a flower-selling child. 27

Abduction of Lia

Childers declared that Lia would become his eighteenth wife. When her father begged him to spare her, Childers assaulted him and attempted to shoot him; Darren stopped the bullet in midair. 28

Darren publicly pretended to cooperate with Childers, offering treasure and personally binding Lia before handing her over. Childers departed Batia Island with Lia and his CP escort. 29 30

Return Voyage and Death

Aboard the official ship, Childers kept Lia imprisoned in a slave cage and continued abusing his seventeenth wife. He also ordered Darren’s eventual dismissal and murder over his perceived disrespect. 32 33

Darren infiltrated the ship, killed the CP1 escort, and confronted Childers in his cabin. Childers’ gunfire failed to injure Darren; Darren then pinned him to the wall with metal rods, jammed the ship’s communications, and killed him. 34 35 36
